Unable to edit an existing project
Autor: Simon B.Hi everyone. Some help would be much appreciated.
I am using Website X5 evo and have started a website project which I have been amending through the software on my desktop.
I have just tried to edit an existing project but the message dialogue box I am getting reads:
"An error occurred while loading the Project.
[Object reference t set to an instance of an object.]"
Also, the date modified on now reads as 01-Jan-01, 12:00AM which is clearly incorrect.
Have I not done something prior to this? I have previously entered through the project slection page with no problems.
It might also be worth mentioning that I jhaveclicked check for upgrades and after the porgramme asks for user agreement, it won't cotninue as other porgrammes are open on the computer and need shutting down. There are no other programmes open.
Any help would be great! I've already spent a lot of time on webv pages both showing and hidden which I planned to use at a later date that I would rather get back!
Cheers
Simon
Hello.
"I have just tried to edit an existing project but the message dialogue box I am getting reads:" - try using a backup copy of the project.
"It might also be worth mentioning that I jhaveclicked check for upgrades and after the porgramme asks for user agreement, it won't cotninue as other porgrammes are open on the computer and need shutting down. There are no other programmes open." - restart your computer and try again. If it does not help, then download the new version of the program from your personal account on this site.

Thank you for answering.
I am new to this programme and thought that a backup would be automatic so did not create a back-up copy. Is there anyway of getting it back or is it now lost?
After posting this I found the backup option!
Would the only other way be to save the published webpage and import back into a project and then create a backup?
Ive restarted the computer a few times and I'm getting the same problems. Ill keep going with the updates.
Thanks
Simon

Sadly the (limited) automatic backup is not reliable. The only safe backup is step5 export project (Incomedia recommends this but does not implement/enforce this)
If selecting backup, redo does not restore your project you are between "a rock and a hard place".
Unfortunately it is not possible to restore a project from a published website.

thanks, so essentially if I didn't back up then I've lost that project......damn it!
I was going to start a new project but do it importing a website (as I have done on previous software) but is this not possible?
@ Simon
I got the same error - but in the last version this error has been corrected.
Have you downloaded the latest version of the program?
"Is there anyway of getting it back or is it now lost?" - close the program. Try to go to the folder with the project. It can be My Documents -> Incomedia -> WebSite X5 - Evolution -> "Your project name" -> Backup. Find the newest file, something like "backup_8bu29n6i.iwprj2".
Copy it and return to the project folder (My Documents -> Incomedia -> WebSite X5 - Evolution -> "Your project name").
There you will see the file "project.iwprj2". Rename it, for example "project0.iwprj2".
Insert file "backup_8bu29n6i.iwprj2". Rename it in "project.iwprj2". Run the program and try to open the project.
