Automatically Inserting Personalized Names in my Confirmation Email

Hi,
I need help inserting personalized names in my confirmation email messages. I have tried adding brackets. For example, I set up a text field labeled 'FULL NAME' on my form. Then, in the confirmation email messaging, I will add this: {FULL NAME}. When I send a test email, it replies with {FULL NAME} in the brackets, instead of the user's name. Is there a specific way I'm supposed to set this up so that the program inserts the user's name?
