Does the X5 search feature require a server side connected database to be setup?
I have ditched the X5 cart in favour of Ecwid HTML cart, and I also am not using any connected database, but now I notice the search function is not working? Is that relateed to the DB not being configured?

the Search function does not require a database to function.
