Dear website x5,

I have been using your software for years, and it is really nice & perfect.

I have a question that needs an urgent solution.

I designed an e-store with the product catalogue, but the admin is someone else who will edit the products details, photos and prices. how can he do this from the dashboard or from a database php my admin? I dont want him to use my software. how can he edit the products details & prices?

I need a solution urgently, because I need the products & prices to be changed.

thanks

There are instructions for exporting and importing products in order to process them externally, see

-----

How to import/export Products in the Shopping Cart

...

When you export a product catalog, a file in .TXT or .CSV format is generated, that can easily be opened and edited with any text editor (for example Windows Notepad) or Microsoft Excel.

...

When you import a .TXT or .CSV file from a previous export operation or that you have written yourself, it will probably be updated by the Program, by adding missing IDs, for example. If you want an updated copy of the .TXT or .CSV file, you will have to re-export the product catalog.

However, I have no experience with this, perhaps other users can give tips and help with problems.

Hello Amira,
unfortunately WebSite X5 is not meant for changes made outside the software, such as from a general dashboard accessible to other users.
Depending on the exact nature of the changes you would need to make, it would be possible to intervene as Daniel mentioned, using the function to export your products as a .csv file and send the file to the admin, who can then send it back after modifications so that you can import the new file, but not all aspects of a product can be modified this way.
If this is mainly about the prices of certain products, this method would work.
I remain available.

So if I exported the products as csv from website x5, and import it to a database software like php my admin and edited it in the database, it will be refelecting in the website. I connected the database in the Website X5 export parameters.

Suggestion:

I am a big fan of Website X5. Would you please create a seperate advanced software for e-commerce with a dashboard to edit the products, and a I will be the first one to purchase it. It will be highly demanded nowadays.

Thanks

Hello Amira,
this is not related to databases, these files are usually modified either with Excel or an online CSV editor for example.
After you export it and send it to the admin, he would need to make the changes to the .csv file and send it back to you.
You can then import the file again so that the products in the project are modified, and the changes can be published.

Unfortunately this would be a major change in how WebSite X5 works, so at the moment we are not planning this, thank you for the feedback however.
