Installing purchased software onto second computer

I have purchased and downloaded the latest software onto my laptop. Am I able to also install it onto my desktop computer? If so, how?

I purchased the software from my laptop, however I'd also like to be able to use it on my desktop computer. Am I able to install the software on the desktop under the same licence or does the software need to be purchased a second time?
No, you must install under the same licence and same email.

So could you please explain to me how I go about doing this? I have been advised that my licence is under a different email address so I am now totally confused.
