Help needed urgently please. My evolution 10 keeps crashing. I open up to start and soon as I try to do anything, it says it has to close. I have tried downloading the version again but I am still having the same problem. It says it wants to open temporary version and it has not saved my banner correctly and I can't even start to fix it. What can I do please I want to work on my website and this is preventing me.

The message I am getting when it tells me its going to close down is - An error occurred while running the program. Please re install the program. (thread was being aborted) It doesn't matter which website I am working on, I have three in evolution 10, they still are crashing on me.
PLEASE can someone help me and advise what to do to fix the problem.
Hello Susan,
Please try to uninstall the .NET Framework 4.0 from your computer and then use this cleanup tool form the :NET 4:
http://cid-27e6a35d1a492af7.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/Blog_Tools/dotnetfx_cleanup_tool.zip
Once the tool has finished reinstall the .NET Framework 4 from following link:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17718
When the Framework has been reinstalled try to start the program to see if the issue still persists.
Please keep me updated.

Dear Claudio
I did the removal and then the re installation but the evolution 10 still crashes. I only just get into it, start to do something and it gives the same message as above and shuts down.
Please advise what to do next, it is very frustrating, I cannot work on my websites.
I appreciate you assistance.
Susan
Hello Susan,
Does it happens also with a new project? Can you tell me exactly when it crashes?
What function are you using that causes it?
Many thanks!
Autor
Hi Claudio thanks for coming back to me.
When I opened the new project, as soon as I got past start, it crashed so I gave up on that one.
Last night I was able to do some work on my website with out it crashing for about 2 hours, then as I was saving fairly regularly in case it crashed and I lost stuff, it started to crash every time I went to save. Previously it was crashing when I went to preview. Sometimes it just crashes what ever I am doing. So I can't say that it is consistant in any one place, the only thing that is consistant is that it keeps crashing.
I hope you can give me a solution.
Many thanks
Susan
Hello Susan,
Can you please tell me what Windows version do you have on your computer?
Please try to uninstall the program from Control Panel and then go in Program Files and delete the the WebSite X5 v10 - Evolution folder. Once done reinstall the program again and try twith a new project if the same happens. Try to check that there are not other programs running in background.
Please keep me updated so we can find a solution for your issue.
Many thanks!

Hello Claudio
I will save my projects first before deleting and then re install and try with a new product and see how it goes and will advise you.
Thank you for your assistance, I do appreciate that.

Hello Claudio
I did all of the above as you suggested. Once it re-installed I opened a new project and after only about 5 minutes when I was clicking on the preview button, it crashed.
I am using Windows 7. I shut down everything whilst I was downloading the re-install.
I hope you can make another suggestion to solve this frustrating problem.
Kind regards
Susan
Hello Susan,
Try to Go to Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features > Turn Windows features on or off
In this window Clear the check box for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1. and then click on OK
It will take a while until it get's disabled. Once done you need to re-enable the box for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1. and click ok.
After you done this restart the computer and then try again to start the program.
Please keep me updated.

Hi Claudio
Yes did all that without a problem re started the computer, went to a new project, opened shut saved pre viewed for about 5 minutes then did a preview and it crashed again!
It is being very stubborn and frustrating. What to do next please?
Thanks
Susan
Hello Susan,
Please try to start WebSite X5 and then open the Preferences. In the Preferences Window set the "max number of simultaneous processes" to 1 and then try again to open the project and start the preview to see if the program still crashes.
Please keep me updated.

Hello Claudio
I had already set to 1 previously to this advice.
So program still crashing.

Hi Susan,
I've had same problem. First time I've delete some unneeded copies of pages, the second time I've rebuild page where crashing occured (do not use "duplicate", rebuild whole page, delete old one and then rename new page)
Autor
Thanks Jano, I will look into that. Much appreciated Susan
Autor
Deleted and re installed two pages that were crashing, so we'll see what happens now! Fingers crossed.
I do have the same problem. In my case is video links. When ever I`ve clicked the link I`ve established X5v10 crash. The way I have found the solution is delete the box or table that I have created for video then re-do it.
But I belive there is a bug to fix. We really need urgent update.
Autor
Yes I find it very frustrating, must be a bug. I am not using video so can't report on that problem. I've even tried creating a new product for Claudio and it crashes too.
Hopefully we will get a result soon, but not till next week it's the weekend now. I have to create a new website for a client soon so hope it will be fixed by then.
Hello Susan,
Please try to uninstall the program and then delete the WebSite X5 v10 - Evolution folder in Program files. Once done download the installer from your answers.websitex5.com profile and install this one.
Once done try to create a new project and then open the preview to see if the same happens again. Please let me also know if you get an windows message or an error from the program directly.
Many thanks!

Hello Claudio
You have already asked me to do this see above, I did it all deleted the website x5 v10 and in the Program files, then reinstalled from answers.website.x5.com and the problem is still there.
I always get a message and send in the reply with my email address at the bottom. the error message I get has never changed, same as reported before. (they must have received a lot of messages from me!)
cheers
Susan
Hello Susan,
Please try to start your computer in Safe Mode by pressing F8 when the computer starts and then, when Windows is in Safe Mode, please try to start the program to see if the same issue happens again.
If the program doesn't crash in the Safe Mode, then try to start the computer normally and try to deactivate all programs running in background and try again to see if it's still happens.
Thank yoo for sending the messages. Please send them anytime it happens, so we can see what is causing the issue to find a solution.
Please keep me updated.
Hello Susan,
As a further suggestion in attempting to help you locate the cause of this frustrating problem, can I suggest that you ensure you have installed all Windows updates available to you from the Windows update site. And also, it is strongly advisable to check for any updated drivers for the graphics card within your PC.

Thanks for suggestions Claudio and Paul, just a bit snowed under at the moment with work so will get to this asap

Hi, I've been having a very similar issue with v9, but I *think* I've found a work around. In another post here, there was a man who solved his preview issues by clearing out his internet cache. I'm not sure how 10 works as I've yet to upgrade, but this may work for it or be of some use in finding the answer:
Basically, I completely bypassed the program's preview function.
1st- locate your project files - I use windows and they were located here - c:>users>[me]>My Documents>Incomedia>WebSite X5 v9 - Evolution>[name of the site]
2nd- I opened the 'Preview" folder and opened the 'index.html' page using Chrome (though I'm sure you can do this with any browser) The browser should load the last saved version of the site.
3rd- To update, make the changes you need and save the project- make sure to 'save' or else the preview section won't update.
4th- Hit update/refresh in the browser window to update the html preview with the new changes.
It's a bit obnoxious, but much better than being victim to a slow or crashing preview.
IMPORTANT- this method will require you to clear your cache (should be an option in the history section of your browser menu) occasionaly as all the temp files will build up and weigh down your system. I would suggest clearing your internet cache before attempting this in fact.
Like I said, I'm using v9, but hopefully the work around can work for v10 or help find a solution. Good luck!

Hi Joey
I will certainly give it a go, I use Chrome too. It is very frustrating when it keeps crashing. The other night it didn't save all the websites I work on, fortunately I had really recently backed them up so I haven't lost too much. Some work to be done on mine though to get it back to where it was. I will be backing up more regularly especially if I do significant changes. Certainly a warning to everyone to back up their work, I also put onto a spare hard drive just for double insurance. Too many hours have gone into the websites I have created for myself and others to loose work.
Cheers
Susan
Hi Susan,
I found one issue with the approach last night, I'm having issues loading externally linked videos from YouTube and Vimeo, so just something to keep an eye out for. Aside from that, it's pretty clear sailing, so hopefully it works for you too!
Hi susan,
You are definitely not alone in this. I have not solution and I' adding my two cents because, as they say, misery loves company, really, I'm just letting off steam. I recently purchased the version Evolution 10, I have a registered copy of Compact 9 too, and it works with no problems at all. I upgraded to the very expensive version 10 becaus V9 will not upload Version 10 seemed to be working just fine, but when I would go to "preview" the exact same thing would happen as you have been experiencing, same message, etc. I did all the updates, no luck. One other failed process it v10 will not copy - paste, such as when doing a link from another source it will not copy from and paste into the command box. You can type in manually but will not copy/paste. Also, in the Tags box and Discriptions box you cannot copy/paste from Word, or any other srouce. This is not true with Compact v9, it will do all of these things. I too am frustrated and on the verge of requesting a full refund, I'm, still under the 30 MBG. I have two weeks to find the solution to this and looking at the dates you have been dealing with this it would seem no solution has been found. it is now 06/13/2013 and no solutions have been presented so it appears this is not a problem with all systems and uploads or everyone would be returning Evolution Version 10. I'm going to give it a couple of more days then, off to claim my Money Back Guaratee
Seems no one has the answer to this. Claudio is trying to help me too. I did the same things listed above, uninstall net frame 4, had to do it manually, then reinstalled it. No good. at first it seemed okay, then I put a LINK on a page, went to preview and it froze. so I closed the page and tried again, this time it frooze in an all white page and a window popped up asking for information to send back to WebSite 5x, I filled in the info, and clicked on the send button and the whole program shut down. ?? Still waiting for Claudio's reply. this is 6/15/2013 and it seems this problem has not solution? Also, I notice that in my software the copy/paste is messed up and does not show the copied text when pasted, same with cut/paste -- wonder if that may have something to do with it. Some else try doing a cut and paste in one of your docutments, or open the Links feature and try copy/paste with and internet address -- see if it works, or if it is just my software?? I really like this Web Builder, I have been using Compact 9 and love it and was hoping this upgrade would give me the extra features I want but so far it has been a waste of time and money. I promise, that if a solution comes to me, or I get one from someone else I will post it here !! I see others have quit posting so, did you find the answer?
Hi Dan,
Thanks for your persistence on this... good man! I really feel for those struggling with these crashes, and would love to help out if I can, even though I'm not experiencing these problems myself at the moment.
But like you say it's often unclear whether a user has resolved the issue or not, and that just makes the picture even more confusing.
I feel what we really need on the forum is to be able to gather all these crash reports together in one place and sift carefully through them, looking for the common denominators in combinations of hardware/software.
It would be useful if we could have a place where we could note details such as operating system, processor, memory installed, hard disk info, whether or not Windows updates are fully installed, antivirus package used, firewall used, version of WebSite X5 being run, browsers installed, and possible conflicting software installed (Adobe Dreamweaver being a notable example), etc, etc.
Without a holistic picture it's difficult to troubleshoot... bit like looking for a needle in a haystack
There must be a software or hardware incompatibility with X5 v10 somewhere, as many users seem able to progress with the software without incident.
I will help out if I possibly can...
Hi Paul, Good point. But, you know in today's world everyone is using the same stuff, more or less, and it is not our job, as paid customers to Beta test software for these guys, especailly when they are charging nearly $100 for something that has problems. If I was the only one, well, perhaps, but I am not. So far I know of three different browsers being used having the same problem. As the Preview is a brower demon I would suspect it would be there, but all three? FireFox, Chrome, and IE9 -- same issue. Windows 7 and from what I can tell no one is using any fancy configuration other than what comes with their computer. The Antivirus programs have all been weeded out to a few that everyone used and the fire walls are limited too, so the softwar developers should have already covered everything. Listing all of the combinations is an excercise in futility for the user =- we are not the beta testers, remember?
I have 8GB memory, 500 GB HD, Nvida card, onboard sound card, Window 7/32/64 15" Lenovo Laptop, Webroot Anywhere, and Iobit ASC 6 Pro. Word 10, bunch of other software that has nothing to do with web building.
Thanks for the advice -- I am still wondering what became of the other people with this same problem, Nigel? and Susan come to mind?? Are they still having this problem or was solution found. Claudio took one of my emails reporting this problem and moved it to a different tread the then told me to do what the told everyone else to do with the uninstall and install of Net Frame 4 - I did it like the other and with the same results, zero, negative, nada, nitz, nothing, made no difference at all. I really like this software and the concept is genius, and I have Compact 9 and it works perfectly, just does not have all the features of 10. Oh, well, I will give it another week ---
Requested a Refund and got it the very next day. Support from Cleverbridge and Website 5x has been top of the line. Along with the preview problem I also was having a Copy/paste issue. As I am a registered Compact 9 user I have none of these problems. I also realize it is only a few, very few, having these problem. I love the software and will be satisfied with Compact 9. I did get a fix for the Preview -- go to "preview crash" under answers to read the solution. Apparently the perview view uses browser Chrome and this contains a flash drive that needs to be reinstalled. The support team has been the best, patient, and helpful. Thanks to everyone else trying to help. Peace, Dan
