Hi, cant export website. Probably a simple answer but how do I change how website x5 connects to the internet when exporting my website. Everything else, eg. website x5 help, & every other program connects perfectly but as soon as I hit export with no delay, the famed " unable to connect to server" etc message comes up. Its not the ftp address & its not the firewall. Thanks a million for any help, bit green at this!

Hi Mick,
I will try and help you with this if I possibly can.
Are you using standard FTP without encryption? This is what most people would use, and is the default setting in the 'Server Type' dropdown in Step 5 - if you have anything other than 'FTP' selected, and your server doesn't support it, then you won't be able to establish a connection.
Are you absolutely sure your FTP address is correct? Can you post a screenshot of your settings, with username and password obscured?
Likewise, with regards to the firewall, what steps have you taken which lead you to believe that the firewall can be completely ruled out? Most setups have both a software firewall (in Windows) and a hardware firewall (in the router) - FTP traffic needs to be able to pass freely on Port 21, and Website X5 must be added as an 'exception' to the firewall rules if necessary.
Make sure you have the 'Use Passive FTP' box ticked in Step 5
Lastly, double and triple-check your FTP username and password as supplied by your webhost. It's very easy for an error to go unnoticed here, especially as the password is obscured in Step 5 - if you've used cut and paste to enter the details, then try again entering them manually.
Let us know how you get on and we will take it further as need be.
Kind regards,
Paul
