Mp3 reader not working with iOS7 & Safari  en

My site displays fine under Safari and iOS7, but the mp3 reader is not working. And yet, if I try using Puffin Browser on my iPad, the mp3 reader works. The mp3 problem must be with Safari and iOS7. At the moment, video OK, but not audio.

Hello Francois,

on iOS the mp3 files cannot be played since Safari on iOS is not supporting them but it is necessary to use mp4 or m4a audio files since only this format is supported.

Please feel free to write back if you need more information.

OK, so if I convert my mp3 files to mp4 or m4a, what happens then when the site is displayed with a PC and Internet Explorer, Firefox or Opera ? Will they play m4a ?

Hello Francois,

most browsers on desktop supports mp4 audio files natively and it will use the HTML5 audio player. If it's not supported then it will use the flash player as fallback. With the Professional 10 you can also add different audio file formats in the player options so it will always use the best format for every device or browser.

Many thanks!

Different audio formats, that sounds like the ticket! Thanks.

I tried two formats, mp3 and m4a, thinking that Safari under iOS7 would use the m4a file. However, it is not working properly insofar as the reader doesn't display properly.

The problem is have is this:

- Added one mp3 and one m4a, placing the m4a first in the order of priority. That enabled the iPad Safari browser to play the sound file, but when opening my site in anotehr browser on the PC, I got a "plugin missing", as if the browser could only see the m4a, since the mp3 should play fine.

So it's a good idea, but not working in practice right now.

No point, since it was not working, I modified it back to working with mp3 only. I'm reluctant to waste time trying to include m4a again, specially that I tried it only for iPad users to view the site. Right now, I'm telling iPad users to use Puffin Browser, which copes fine with video and audio files (even Flash) on the iPad.

My site is http://www.kronoscopie.fr

Hello Francois,

You could add the m4a file as second choice so on the computer it will play the mp3 file and on the ipad, since not supported, it will load the m4a file.

Many thanks!
