How do I make a local Web site?

I don't want to publish a web site to the web but want to install a local web site on my computer for my own use. How do I do that? I will not have a http://websitename.com but will use a local address. Any suggestions would be helpful. I have tried a lot of local addresses. Such as:file:///c:/homepage/index.html

if you published as a php, you will have a hard time, otherwise there should be no problem follow this path: analyse and export> Export the website to disk, then choose your desire path inside your hard drive.
if you are using php and/or other codes I suggest get a small program like "XAMPP" or "WAMPSERVER" and create a local server, with one of these you can even create a facebook and run it localy, btw they are free programs, donwload them from their official website only!
