I tried with your project file to do that and it causes crash in my program as well, you have a custom code that make the cart crash, you need to remove them then try adding product to your cart, after everything is done, then start adding those 3rd party script back to your pages.

I know my x5 work perfectly fine because I have websites with e-comerce on them!

codes are making your shopping cart to crash, when I load your project file into my program, it made my shopping cart to crash as well, thats how I know that crash it caused by your website and not the x5 program.

Okay are the custom codes the sections of coding i have added under the expert section for google ads and so on?

i have removed everything from under the expert section - saved the project - reopend the project and gone back into it - when I click the basket it still crashes - so where do i find these "custom codes" so that I can remove them?

well, you have so many pages, anywhere you used html or css or java,etc they are custom codes and need to be removed to see which one is messing up with your shopping cart.
