V10 export project to v11 major fail
Autore: Paul S.I've enjoyed X5v10 and in so decided to upgrade to v11 on the 55% discount. What a mistake so far.
I exported my project from v10 into its zip file and imported to v11, the first import caused an error and I filled in Incromedias error report. Importing a second time completed fine, but it is putting a different template to my project and of course that screws it all up. Sunsequently, every time I import the same project, v11 applies a different template (never my original, just random each time). http://static.incomedia.eu/websitex5.com/v11/v10tov11_conversion_en.pdf
I'm reading about v11 template differences, but I was using Photography 53 in v10 and it's still named so in v11. When I select that template now in v11, I have to go and make all the changes to colors, the menu buttons all change to the template default even though mine exported correctly from v10, the link bar on the bottom of pages is gone, just a big mess and hardly anything close to the guaranteed compaitability sold to me in the sales pitch.
Needless to say, this is all very upsetting (thankfully I make plenty of backups because they can now no longer be opened in v10) and now I get to see how "support" handles this. I've exported and imported a couple more times and its always wrong in v11.
Has any other v10 to v11 user ran into this issue? Should I just make the one call to Italy to get my money back on v11? I'm not going to spend all the time fixing my site in v11 to start using it, do you Devs have another solution to solve this problem? http://static.incomedia.eu/websitex5.com/v11/v10tov11_conversion_en.pdf
Thanks.

After several more Export to Project from v10 to Import v11, it started saving Photography 53 template. However, what I thought could be just minor changes to get it all correct again opens up a new can of worms.
The wrong imported text color is easy enough to change on pages, but the template color is default pinkish and the "edit the template hue" button that is in v10 is no longer in the Template Selection menu on v11 (a "refresh" button is in the exact same place), so I can not change the hue of Photography 53 (or any other template it appears) in v11 which still makes v11 useless to me and a waste of money.
I don't see anywhere to change the hue of a template in v11, where did it go? If it was removed, good god why as it's absolutely stumps creativity?
Thanks.
Hi Paul,
it is not possible to change the template color in version 11, but please have a look at this post to find a workaround: http://answers.websitex5.com/post/102707
Feel free to write back if you have anymore questions!
Thank you,

Hi Samantha,
Thanks for your input and provided workaround, but I am disappointed with the decision to remove the hue change ability to the templates. Upgrades should move forward, not backwards. Being able to change the hue with a slider for at least quick access to see how different colors can make a template better or worse for a project. Having to use another editor to do so is ridiculously time consuming and it boggles my mind why the devs would remove such a useful feature. I won't be using v11 for existing or new projects solely because of the loss of hue change as it severly limits my options with the software and creates a large amount of new workload translating into more customer dollars. Should have just bought the discount on v10 professional when I had the chance and called it a day.
I only paid $38 for the v11 "up"grade, so I'm not going to seek a refund, however, it would be nice if software devs stated what was lost in a version as much as they like to state what is gained in a version, I would have saved $38. If I can find the place to post user suggestions on software improvements, I will ask for the hue change to be back, if it does not come back in some useable form (better would be good), I will not be upgrading to professioanl or any next version until the sales pitch states it's back.

Paul

I've found my own workaround for existing projects (kind of a duh moment, but seems nobody else thought of it either). I simply copy the "style" images from v10 folder to v11 project folder, import completed (after a few text color issues).
Also found a workaround for the lack of hue slider in v11, open v10 and use the slider to find what I'm looking for, export the empty but colorized template to v11 and copy over "style" files.
While this brings back some v10 functionality to v11, it is not the perfect solution in any way as this will not work with new templates for v11. I may start using v11 in this manor or may not seeing how I could trap myself in v11 and then would have to start over in v10. Either way, there won't be anymore upgrades for me until the hue slider is back where it belongs.

The first update to v11 is doing a better job importing a v10 project, but still misses the mark. Keep it up.

Hi Paul,
thank you for updating me!
Other users have opened an idea post to tell our developers that they would like to have that function back in the program. We will do what is possbile to make you happy, but i can not tell when and if it will be added again.
Thank you,
Samantha
