Connection Error for Updating Products  en

I've just purchased Professional 13, an upgrade from Professtional 13, and am trying to set up availability for products using the shopping cart system.

I've followed all the steps shown in the user manual, including adding a database and changing the 'Sending Order' to a database from e-mail. I've amended the 'Quantity to add/remove" value in the product settings window to 5 ('Quantity currently in stock' value is shown as 0) for one of the products, and have uploaded the project to the internet.

However, on the live website it doesn't show the quantity available, and after clicking the 'Update' button in the 'Product List' section of the Shopping Cart settings, it presents the following error:

"Connection error: it is not possible to complete the operation."

Looking then at the product I set the 'Quantity to add/remove' to 5, it shows the same 'Quantity currently in stock' as 0.

Could someone please tell me why I am getting this error, and what I could possibly do to fix this please? Thankyou in advance!

James,

Try to fix the connection error. there could be multiple reasons for this;

It can be that your firewall is interfering, or the database data is not correct (adres login password) check the faq from your serviceprovider.

Try the connection without firewall.

use the database for only 1 purpose. (not for other objects as well the y need a seperate database.

Hope you will find the connection error.

Thanks for your reply Andre.

I've tried connection without the firewall to no avail, and only have the one database in use so no chance it could be interfering with others.

Do you have any other ideas on what might be preventing the update?

I am currently running the website on a subdomain of its eventual main site so I can tinker before it is launched to public - could this be the issue?

I am not sure, it should work if the host is the same and inormation is good.

Why not make a small test with a new project, and a new -test- database? Then you know.

I've been on live chat to my web host (one.com) and they're saying something about that external connection or remote access to the database is not supported on their servers. Is this the likely cause to the issues I'm encountering? Has anyone had this issue with one.com in the past?

Hello James,

Please check the URL in step 1 to be correct and check also in the admin section of the website, where you can login with the username and password in step 1 Access Management, if the Database Settings are correct and then export the complete project again online to see if then it works correctly.

Please keep me updated.

Claudio, you're a life saver! For the URL field in Step 1, all that was missing was a " / " at the end of the link. I added the backslash in and it now works with no worries at all! Thanks so much again for your help, I can finally finish the site now!

Cheers!
