Allan, you may like to export the project (step5 export, Export the project) and then open WX5 and select Import, browse to where you saved it and proceed. This will not overwrite your existing project, but with luck the resultant project may be cleaned of whatever is causing the issue.

In evo there is no option to create a backup manually (down arrow next to save), but you could create a backup by uploading your site before knock-of every day (even if to a temporary folder, but you must use the built in FTP engine (step5 Export, Upload website to internet)). Other than that I recommend regularly exporting the project (sadly these are always the same name, so I take the step of renaming them after creation so I can have multiple recovery iwzip files in case of catastrophe).

When trouble stikes I have found if the project is damaged, a backup can rescue you in most situations, but an exported project (iwzip) is bullet proof (and can of course be opened in a later version if necessary).

Please advise how you get on.

Just tried that, and it did not work.

All images are still on the pc in the same directory and as you see, the reference is also there.

There must be a fault in v.13 as this has never happened in the earlier versions.

Allan, unless you have had an ongoing issue over the past 12 months, I sincerely doubt the issue is V13. However, if you are in any doubt, you can download a fresh install from your profile (top right this webpage)

It is more likely that one of it's dependencies (eg .net, C++) has been upgraded or damaged in some way.

In order for Incomedia to assist, could you please advise your Windows version?

If it is Win10, is it possible the problems occurred shortly after a major update?

It is windows 10, and not for long time ago there was a major update. But I cannot remember if the faults started before or after.

Now something strange happened.

I tried to put some images back on each empty page and then I uploaded all. I suddenly had all my old images back including the new ones. Also when I go in editing mode on the pages: All are there.

Anyway, it is not a good situation, as I now have to be extremely careful about everything when editing in X5.

Allan, what you describe is very strange to say the least, and I have never come across this issue.

Having said that, I have assumed that you make occasional use of the CTRL Preview feature which forces the regeneration of the whole site. If your site is large, you may be experiencing an issue that means at time of preview, the page you wish to view has been regenerated, but other pages may not have. Holding CTRL when pressing preview flushed the preview browser cache and recreates the whole site.

I would suggest as first to export the project as IWZIP file to have a backup copy and in case you should experience the issue again, as first try to press CTRL while opening the preview to see if then then program can find the images again.
