Is it possible to create horizontal scrolling grids where the background color ends before the viewport instead of extending the full width?
As you can see in the image below, the Horizontal grid continues but the background color of the object (white) ends.

Beta, I am not sure I understand the question.
Are you asking if the header with menu can be made to fit the width automatically rather than get cut off - if so this is the default of WX5 responsive views. When properly designed everything will fit the device it is intended for, headers will not be cut off, pictures will not be cut in half, slide shows will work within the viewport, etc
If I have misunderstood, please provide further details and perhaps a screenshot of your project created with WX5

I might of confused us both...lol
does this help? (image)
Beta, sadly I am no much the wiser. This appears to be a simple screen grab from a mobile, probably through chrome. It does not appear to be a website?
To recreate in WX5 . . . .
If you have a cell on the page that is full width, you can use style to set the background colour, and rounded corners and drop shadow if you wish (identical to what you pointed at).
The background colour will be set in Template, Template structure where you can set the background colour and or the page background colour. (just as in your screen shot)
If you use the Gallery Object and select thumbnails per Frame you will achive the above, but the thunbnail images will always fit, none will be cut in half (very similar to what you have shown, but with significant limitations on text below thumbnail - although each thumbnail can link to further information)
Please attempt to create what you require in WX5 and if you cannot do something, ask and we will try help.
