Error in XML document prevents project from opening
Autore: Melissa K.Hello everyone.
Working on a new project, and after working on it for a while without much of a problem (barring the few crashes), yesterday something weird happened.
I was working on the project when it crashed. Specifically, I was trying to figure out why two animated image elements that were side by side with the exact same dimensions and style were previewing as being of different sizes.
Anyway, the program crashed and I didn't think much of it, went to open the project again, it gave me the usual message of "This project wasn't closed correctly, would you still like to open it?"
I said yes, and then a new message appeared: There is an error in the XML document (0,0)
And I can't open the file. I tried to open my backups, and it says there is an error and it can't open those as well.
Any ideas as to how I can resolve this?
The project was destroyed during the crash while saving, if you have backup (when selecting the project), you can use it. Otherwise, you should use an iwzip file if you have created it under export export project.

So there's no way for me to recuperate it???
There are backups, but like I explained above, those are also acting up (not the same message, but an error nonetheless).
Can't exactly export a project that I can't open.
If no backup works and you do not have iwzip-file for import, you can just open a new project, rebuild the structure and copy content from the published homepage.

Remember to regularly create iwzip file !!
Hi Melissa,
Here may be a solution to your problem. Follow the instructions of Esach and Claudio:

It was OK for me many times

Because you have the professional version, you may be able to recover by simply opening WX5, selecting your project, click on backup, select a recent backup, then click redo.
Unless you regularly create a new backup (down arrow next to save), then sadly the most recent backup will have been created the last time you uploaded to the web.
In rare (albeit far too frequent) circumstances other files may also become corrupt, so in these cases the backup will not restore. If this is the case you will need to use the iwzip created when you last exported the project, but as JJ said, if you do not have a working backup or iwzip file, your only alternative is to recreate the project by copying and pasting content from the online site.
I have been lucky in the past, and hopefully you will be too, but in future please make frequent use of step5 export project (v16 even makes it easy to name each save uniquely), this is the ONLY bullet proof form of backup.
Good luck!

Thank you very much for all the responses. I suppose I'll try to be more vigilant with creating backups.
Alas I had to start from scratch. Thankfully it was just one page and I had everything straight-forward so not a lot of loss.
Melissa, please export and create iwzip files. Do NOT rely on backup.
