I have just bought and installed the PPT/PPS optional object. It does not work. I have done a search for comments about this and I am having exactly the same issue as others are having. If it is simply a download link for a powerpoint file then that should be made clear on the X5 website. I'm not interested in a work around as the object should be fit for purpose as advertised. It goes through a circular loop installing file and then saving it.

Don,
I tested and can't open it in a webpage, not in firefox, not in IE or Edge.
They all give me the option for download or view (with local help from office) this is not like I would expect as well, I expect it to show on the page itself.
I have set this post for Incomedia to check.
And yes there are workarounds like you probably have found, but still this object should do as adverticed.
Give Incomedia some time, they don't work in the weekends so they probably react 1 or day's after the weekend.
Best Regards
Hi Don.
I can confirm that this is the expected behavior of the PPT File Object. This is so for the following reason:
- PPT is a proprietary extension, which means that is officially owned by a company. For this reason, it will not be vieweable by the default browser alone inside itself. You should be able to find online plugins, specific for each browser, which give you the possibility to directly preview this kind of file online, but without does, it just cannot work.
Should your browser not currently be capable of this, it will instead proceed to downloading the file, and this is the only way a default browser will behave once a PPT file is linked
I hope I've been clear enough, but let me know should you need further information on this
Thank you
Stefano

Hi Stefano & Andre, that info is very helpful. What I will do is ask for a credit or refund as that information was not provided in the marketplace. I wrongly assumed that the addon would allow PPT files to be played and viewed in the browser. If more detailed information was provided I would not have purchased the add on. I'll use webanimator or something similar instead.
Cheers
Don
