My brother Arie (84 years old) has recently bought version 16 (and updated to version 17).
Because of his age he has asked me to convert his website.
Now I have one problem. On the Forums I have not found the solution. Please help me.
When choosing the Preview I get the message: "This audio/video cannot be played in this browser. Try another browser."
I have 4 (external) browsers: Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer. When visiting the website the audio and video is playing.
Not while using the embedded browser of X5 in the Preview.
What is the solution??
Please, help me.
Kind regards,
Postato il
Hello jan
If your brother has the PRO version, then you can choose a browser when in preview. You can choose between the ones installed on your ( your brothers ) PC.
You could also check if the video is H264 encoded. If not then convert it to mp4 with H264 encoding.

He has no PRO version, but the Evolution version.
The audio and video files have the extension MP3 and MP4.
In version 9 Evolution it worked fine with the same files.
Hello Jan
The extension should be mp4 for video files - so the type of the file should be OK.
But the codec used in the file should be H264, if you want it to be played in most common browsers.
Check the codec that is used in the file.
If it is not H264 then convert it.
If you have problems with converting, then make another post in this thread, and you will be helped.

Hello John,
I appreciate your trying to help me.
I have converted online a MP4 file, but the converted file could not be played.
It is strange that MP3 files in the embedded browser of X5 are not playable. They also need a special codec??
After uploading the website all audio and video plays well!
Maybe you can help me with converting a MP4 file.
Maybe the website x5 preview windows isn't able to show the video and to play the audio file. But if they work fine in other browsers, They'll run correctly on line.
This is more important. The preview windows is userful only to check the general layout of the page.
Hello,
May be you can also, after saving the project, launch the index file from the project location on the hard disk.
Go to the preview folder and search index.html.
I hope I helped a little bit.
Local preview:
Index preview: (userful also to check the general layout of the page when there is a (or more) vidéo Object).
Regards,
J.P.
Hello Jan
If you still have problems, then I can convert the file for you - if it is not a big file.
Then just give me a download link.
Question : Do you experience the same in version 16?
Autore
Hello John,
In version 16 I had the same experience.
Jan
You have almost answered your own question. The videos are fine, it is just that the preview browser cannot display them with the demise of flash. Many have tried and a few have had success
eg. https://helpcenter.websitex5.com/it/post/150592
But personally I have always worked around the problem. As Jiper said above, go to step 5 export, export website to disk. In my case I create a folder inside the project folder called web and that's where I export to. I can then execute the index file and view the site in any browser just as if it was online.
