I want to export our website - www.fastonwater.co.uk - from version 11 to Evo. The export gets to 57% and then a get an error message (see attached). I have read the threads explaining how to resolve this as our website is very large. What I can't figure out is how to convert the .iwzip file to a .zip file. The file has been saved by its title - Fast On Water 2020. I'm using Windows 10. Can you help please?

Hello Roy,
I presume you're trying to convert to version 2020.2?
Unfortunately it's not possible to directly import a v11 project in this way. The oldest version which can be directly imported is v12:
WebSite X5 project conversion
Incomedia may be able to help you with the project conversion under the terms of the 'special conversion needs' listed in that article.
Or sometimes other members of the community here on the Help Center offer to convert on a voluntary basis.
If you send the v11 IWZIP to me I will see what I can do for you.
Kind regards,
Paul

Hi Paul
Many thanks. I was told when I purchased Evo, that I could export V11 to it. The website .izip file is 7.57Gb. How would I get this to you?
Kind regards
Roy
There's a contact form on my support website:
Contact Paul M.
However, the size of the IWZIP file could be a problem. The file transfer service I use will only accept a maximum file size of 2GB.
Can you ensure that in Step 5 you deselect the following options when creating your IWZIP file from version 11:
This might reduce the overall size of the IWZIP file. If having done that it's still in excess of 2GB then you might have to compress and/or split it into smaller chunks. You could use 7-zip to do that... it's free:

I'll also mark this thread for Incomedia's attention.
Hi all,
May be useful? Each transfer is limited to a data volume of 50 gigabytes (GB).

I have already used it in good conditions.

Hi Paul
Yes I did that so 7.57Gb is the size I'm afraid. Just to check, which export should I have used - Export the Website to DisK or Export the Project?
Many thanks for your help with this.
You'll need to use the option to Export the Project, Roy, as that is the only one which will create an IWZIP file.
You could use the file transfer service which Jiper has linked to above? Thank you Jiper for the recommendation... much appreciated!
@A. Kris: yes, will do that for you, no problem, thanks.

How do I link the file transfer service to your contact page?
After you've uploaded your file to https://swisstransfer.com click on the Link icon as shown below:
Swisstransfer will then generate a URL which you can copy and paste into the field marked WeTransfer hyperlink (files up to 2GB) on the contact form.
Let me know if you get stuck.
Autore
Thanks Paul. Sorry for not being up-to-speed with all this. Now in the proecess of uploading to Swisstransfer.
No need to apologise, Roy... none of us have all the answers.
I look forward to downloading the file in due course
Autore
sent it this way as for some reason your secure contact wouldn't recognise the url - http//www.fastonwater.co.uk/homepage
Hi Rob,
Have you deleted the connection data on your project? Otherwise anyone who downloads your file can access your server !!
In doubt I hide the message but Paul can read it ... Wait for his visit

Autore
Hi JP. How do I do that please?
Autore
Do I change it to private? I'll do that anyway.
Re...
Nothing for the moment... Wait for Paul's visit as soon as he has downloaded your IWZIP file...
The message with the download link is hidden. Paul sees it ( other visitors not ) and he can act on it.

Many thanks JP.
Yes, thanks again Jiper!
Roy, I have successfully downloaded the file and am in the process of converting.
Could you please supply an email address so I can forward you the new transfer link privately? You can use my contact form if you don't want to make your email address public here.
The Help Center obscures email addresses by default, so if you do decide to write your address here then please do so using this format:
email[at]email.com (in other words, don't use the ampersand @)
Thank you!

Hi Paul
The email address is the Fast On Water Charity one, so it's generally available to people. It's
fastonwater[at]hotmail.com
Very many thanks for all your help with this.
Autore
Sorry Paul. Email is fastonwater[at]hotmail.co.uk

I'm obviously having an off day. Ignore those other email addresses.
It's fastonwater[at]live.co.uk
Thanks Roy.
The conversion was successful and the new IWZIP file can be imported into version 2020 without issue.
As it is rather a large project you can expect the initial import to take a considerable length of time (depending on how powerful your computer is)... but this is normal. Once the new project files have been generated subsequent start-ups will be a lot faster.
You'll also need to tweak various aspects of the project as per the instructions and guidance in the project conversion notes:
WebSite X5 project conversion
In particular it will be necessary to create a new menu (don't be alarmed that the old menu has disappeared! - this is again normal as there was a major change to how WebSite X5 creates the menu in the newer versions)
You can also now set up responsive settings for the various different viewports (desktop, tablet, smartphone, etc.) - version 11 didn't cater for this.
The new IWZIP file is currently uploading to Swiss Transfer, and you should receive a link via email once the transfer is ready to download.
I recommend retaining a copy of your old v11 IWZIP file (at least for a short period of time) - projects which have been converted cannot be opened in older versions anymore, but you can always use your old v11 IWZIP to open the project in version 11 once more, should the need ever arise.
Good luck!

Many, many thanks Paul. I couldn't have done it without you.

Hi Paul.
Now uploaded to Evo. There's a few issues with layout and header. It appears that I can no longer change typeface style in my header and there are some typefaces, which are loaded on computer that are not recognised. Is there anything I can do about this?
Thanks. Roy
ps. should I have started a new thread for this?
The font linking issue is fairly common (especially after such a major upgrade) and can be resolved by using websafe fonts. There is a lot of information on the forum on how to go about this:
Fonts not linked to project
The header is still fully customisable, but the procedure is a bit different and the settings might not be where you are used to. Go to Step 2 Template > Template Content... make sure the Header tab is selected... then you can drag and drop/edit items in the working area depicted by the chequered section:
For example, you can use the Title Object shown above to choose a typeface of your choice for the header.

Hi Paul
Fonts sorted.
I had already found the Template Content page. I dragged the 'Text' icon to my header to create a box. Then I double clicked on it and typed the text I wanted but when I clicked on the 'tick' icon and returned to the header page all I had was the shaded text box with the text ixon in the middle of it. I'm obviously missing a step somewhere. The preview box shows the text I typed but it doesn't show in the text box in the header area.
No, that's right enough actually, Roy... it's just how WebSite X5 works.
You need to enter the full Preview mode in WebSite X5 before you will actually see the text itself, but you can catch a small glimpse of it in the local Preview window also:
See the part in the red box.
But enter the main Preview mode (link is located at top right of screen) to test your content fully in each viewport.

Hi Paul
Thanks, I get it now. In version 11 you could edit image and text and see the results in the header page, which was a lot easier. I'm sure I'll get used to Evo given time.
All the best.
