Order Confirmation emails not being sent to customer  en

Customers can place an order on the website but are not receiving confirmation emails. I have tested email sending in the Control Panel and all is working there. I have also sent a test email from my contact page and that is also working. All settings have been checked on the "Shopping Cart" page and have been working correctly. PHP is 7.4. Help please  -  screen shot of settings attached

Hello. Check the error logs on the server. Look at the mail logs on the server. Do you use mail with your domain to send letters from the site?

I have checked the error logs on the server and there is no problem. I only use my Contact page for customers/visitors to send enquiries. I have checked that today and that is not sending the enquiry to me either.

Do you use mail with your domain to send letters from the site ore you use GMail etc?

I have just checked the file "email_log.txt" on the server and it now showing:

[2021-09-21 17:03:01] Could not instantiate mail function

I do not use GMail

"[2021-09-21 17:03:01] Could not instantiate mail function" - I recommend trying to set up sending letters using the SMTP. You can find out all the necessary data for connecting to the SMTP on your hosting.

OK, I deleted all my website files from the server and changed the PHP settings on the hosti to "latest version". Reloaded all files to server and finally the sending of emails now works fine! HOWEVER the sales process is not getting beyond "#step3 as per the screen shot attached. Customers are now getting the emails to confirm the order and I am receiving the order BUT the process is not complete as the "generic error" message appears when the "Buy Now" button is clicked.  HELP PLEASE

I've attempted to complete an order for you and I was able to get to the payment step without issues

Can you please try this again and confirm if the issue is in fact now fixed?

Stefano, many thanks for your message. At the moment all appears to be working as it should and your email notification did come through to me under "***".   I had to delete all files from the server (hosted by One.com) and re-send them but I also had to change the PHP setting back to version 7.4.  As I said all appears to be working as it should for the moment. I will monitor the situation and get back to you if there is a further problem but thanks for checking.
