Will someone tell my why Website X5 is becoming user unfriendly?
Autore: Michael SmithFirstly, why am I presented with the error 'Cannot connect to server' constantly? Shut program down, restart if I'm lucky it will upload the site. This error message is AFTER it has connected to the site, tests mustiple connections and then, after a time, presents the 'cannot connect to server'.
Secondly. Why do my links not work in mobile mode? Why? They work in tablet, PC, the next one up, but three do not work in mobile browser. They don't work in the preview so this is down to a device's browser. but X5, again, which is not user friendly. It used to, no longer, and X5 ant me to renew my license? Seriously? With these issues?
If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. Uplodaing works in Filezilla so not an issue with my provider or internet, X5 is the issue.
You can view the site at www.ofevents.co.uk/photos
The error appears under Live Music as the links do not work for Against the Current, Amy Shark, Celebrate Women In Music, all the others seem to work OK.
If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.
Thanks
Michael, please provide a link to your site. When I have had issues in various resolutions it was invariably caused by overlayed objects making it impossible to select a link.
With uploads, try reduce the number of simultaneous file uploads, I use 3.
Since you can connect and it fails during upload itprobably says more about your internet connection than WX5, but I agree, FileZilla is very robust.
Hello:
Apparently you have an object that has dimensions of 520x1160 px, which covers the links of the first images in lower resolutions because it is in the foreground. If we put a lower z-index, the images of the artists would be above and could be activated by clicking.
I don't know how you have the objects in the template but this is the one that gives the problem: imHeader_imObjectImage_11_wrapper {position: absolute;top: -10px;left: -110px;width: 520px;height: 1160px;text-align: center;z- index: 1002; overflow: hidden;}
Select that object and send it all the way to the bottom (speaking of layers).
z-index: 1002 this is what covers the other links. if we put 0 this object will go to the bottom and the other objects will be in front. z-index: 0
See captures.
Greetings.
Regarding the connection of the program, it may be that your antivirus has something to do with it, or the configuration of the firewall.
It would be nice if you shared screenshots of the error.
Regarding the renewal of the license...
It is always more convenient to have the updated program since...
Also the servers are updated, they change to a more recent version of php (which is the most common) and the previous versions of wsX5 do not work with the most recent version, it also depends on the hosting.
The most recent version of php is 8.1.xx
Apparently wsX5 works better with version 8.0.xx
This depends on the hosting, some of my sites use the most recent version of php 8.1.xx and it has not given me any problems. In another hosting I have to use 8.0.xx or I get connection errors...
What version does your hosting have on the server?
I guess the version of wsX5 you have should work with version 7.xx

Hi Miguel,
Thaks for your assistance. That solved the issue of the links not working, but, again, presented an issue uploading. Website host is experiencing no issues, and the latest version is 8. They have recommended Filezilla. I agree with them.
Security is not an issue Website X5 IS however, as, again presented with:
After clicking OK and then start gain, three times, mysteriously, the site uploads.
Thaks again Miguel, much appreciated :)

Hi Esach,
I did place a link in the original post http://ofevents.co.uk/photos/ but the issue of the links is now resolved, thanks to Miguel. Still not sure why X5 has such a problem with the server though.
In any case, thanks very much for your reply and assistance :)
Mike
