Issues with Version 12 Conversion to latest software  en

Converted a version 12 website with the latest software.

Converted fine with the exception that the header and footer are screwed up when the site is displayed on smaller screens such as a cell phone.

I tried adjusting the header and footer along with the template , however I had no success.

Version 12 webs diplayed fine on all screens although I see version 12 options were 980px  720px and 480px.   The latest version has all these plus an additional 0-480px

Any help appreciated

Thank you

If help is desired, then give more information and possibly a link.

I created my brother's website with Evo 13 and converted it with the current Evo version in summer 2022, I only had to adjust the footer area a bit. I also changed the font and font color in the header area.

Julian, when you do the conversion you will need to replace the header and the footer content. The upgrade turns text into graphics and uses an image behind each menu item (this also applies to the sticky menu). You will also find other oddities caused by the need to make the upgraded site look the same (at least at desktop res) even though the techniques and proceedures from v12 no longer work in v2022.?.?

There is of course no need to upload your converted website until you are perfectly happy with the result.

In short, I would replace the menu. I would place a text object over each v12 piece of text (these are now graphics), and when I have reproduced the text as required, I would delete the graphic version, you will also find random named graphic objects in places like the header (see eg1) which should be deleted and if necessary, replaced. I would then visit every resolution to ensure header and footer content behaves as required. You have the ability to hide header and footer content at lesser resolutions and you can also move objects forward or back.

The amount of content on you site justifies the update/upgrade in my opinion, and the new responsive features for page objects will give you far greater control.

You can add resolutions in step 2, resolutions and responsive design but I would do so before attacking header and footer content and layout. I recommend adding a break point of 320. Most users will never see the resolution 0-320 which gives you greater control over the 320-480 resolution seen by 98% of users.

This is the header off one of my v12 websites at desktop res after upgrade

As you can see it is a bit of a mess at mobile resolution but I can assure you the fix was relatively painless. Any graphic objects that need resizing can be resized without affecting other resolutions, and once text is again text it is far easier to manipulate (and again, changes made to size and position affect only the resolution you are working on).

In template content all text on this screen shot of a v12 header has become a graphic image (except the menu) and needs replacement.

If something has you stumped, post here and I am sure we can help. If you need to post a screen shot of the problem you can simply paste the shot (ctrl v) into a post.

Enjoy!!
