Hi
I have digged a lot about this issue and maybe I can find some help here, please.
For the page http://www.softedu.eu the Google webmaster tools refuse to index my home page because of the wrong canonical tag which is:
<link rel="canonical" href="http://www.softedu.eu/" />
Should I put <link rel="canonical" href="http://www.softedu.eu/index.html" /> instead?
I remember that I have tried and generate another bunch of problems ... but I am not sure.

Specify canonical page using rel="canonical" and other methods
....
Your website will probably work fine without specifying a preferred canonical URL. If you don't provide a canonical URL, Google determines the objectively best version of the URL for Google Search users.

Of course but this is not what I have asked. As a diligent one you should see, but thanks for your time.
Does the question only refer to the domain address, i.e. the homepage of the website?

Use cases of a canonical tag
A canonical tag is used when content is used on multiple URLs or a unique URL is not possible for technical reasons. Here you will find a few use cases when canonical tags are used:
Is a page accessible via various URLs, for example http://www.domain.dehttps://www.domain.dehttp://domain.dehttps://domain.dehttps://www .domain.de/index.php, the canonical tag can be used - in this case, however, the ideal solution is to redirect all variants to the main URL with a 301 redirect.

The 301 option is not an option, due to a lot of reasons.
To the second ... let's agree it is about the homepage of the website, as html structure shows.
I really appreciate an answer which reffers exactly to the question asked.
I reiterate it here, briefly for "lazy ones" :-)
<link rel="canonical" href="http://www.softedu.eu/" />
OR
<link rel="canonical" href="http://www.softedu.eu/index.html" />
If you enter the correct URL, Google will no longer complain.
<link rel="canonical" href="https://www.softedu.eu/" />
is the right one. However, your entry is
<link rel="canonical" href="http://www.softedu.eu/" />
(Look at the s after http...)

Hi, there is no secure option attached to the domain, it is simple http not https
Salut, Marius!
As spune ca ai conflict in declaratii. Ai declarat canonical:
<link rel="canonical" href="http://www.softedu.eu/" />
dar la open graph ai declarat:
<metaproperty="og:url" content="http://www.softedu.eu/index.html" />
Incearca sa folosesti si la open graph acelasi url: "http://www.softedu.eu/"
It is the case that your website is automatically redirected to a secure website because after accessing your page it says https://www.softedu.eu/ in the address bar in the browser! Your provider may have activated an SSL certificate.
But what can still be seen, is that you entered the URL of the website with http in WebsiteX5. So in step 5 'Export' selection 'Export the website to the Internet' you have to enter the value 'https://www.softedu.eu/' in the 'URL of the website' field. This also applies if you select the 'Export to a drive' option and then upload using an external ftp program. In order to take over this change, the project must be rebuilt. To do this, hold down the Ctrl key and click on the preview button and wait until the progress bar has completely run through. Then upload the project completely.

Ro Partner: ok but it's X5 doing that open graph naming.
Franz-Josef H: I am pretty sure that the hosting did not activatr SSL because they should charge me.
It is overwelming for me ...
The post or the problem is not yet resolved. So why are you closing the post by checking the correct checkmark in Ro Partner's post?
The fact is what I wrote: when your page is displayed by the browser, you can see at the top that it is a secure page and an SSL certificate is active - for whatever reason...
In order to eliminate the refusal of Google Webmaster Tools and that is your hope as you write above, you should proceed as I described above. If it doesn't help you can reset it.
By the way, the procedure described will also correct the entry that Ro Partner mentioned.

Ok, thank you. I will try this.
