My website works well in desktop mode but the hamburger menu does not work when my website is viewed on a smardtphone.

You can see it but it does nothing when you tap it.

Hello Lou,
I am sorry about the inconvenience.
Inspecting the mobile version of your website, some of the elements in the header are overlapping with the burger menu, causing it not to respond to clicks.
I recommend resizing and repositioning some of the objects there or setting the menu to be in the foreground, so that other objects do not interfere.
I would also recommend avoiding objects that go beyond the working area of the breakpoint, as they will cause horizontal scrolling to be present.
I remain available.

Thank you for your reply.
I didn't place the burger menu there. WebsiteX puts it ther automatically when my site is viewed on a phone. When viewed on a desktop/laptop the menu is in the left bar. I don't see where I can control wher WebsiteX places it when on a phone :(
Even though I've been "playing with WebsiteX since it was first released, perhaps my old brain isn't up for the task, I would appreciate your help.
Regards,
Lou

Hello Lou,
the position and size of objects in different screen sizes can be adjusted in Step 2 - Template ---> Template Content.

Thanks Eric. I have played around with all those tabs to no avail.
Are you saying I can have two lots of menus, one in place for desktop and one in place for phone, OR the same menu place in a different location for desktop and for phone?

Regards,

Lou

Ok I've had some success!
I placed a menu where you suggested and in works! However I still have to one that's automatically placed there by WebsiteX that looks good but does not work. How can I get rid of it and improve the look of the one that works?
Regards,
Lou

Hello Lou,
I would recommend using only one Menu object to avoid potential confusion when visiting the website.
You should however make sure that there are no objects overlapping with it, perhaps you could consider increasing the height of the header so that you can spread out objects more, as currently it is a bit cluttered, in addition to potentially reducing their size.
You can change the height of the header in Step 2 - Template ---> Template Structure

Hello Eric, I think I've solved my problem.

All this time I was under the impression that Website automatically optimised the project for tablets and smartphones but that is not the case.

One must design for each different screen manually in the program for the website to look good on different screens!

Perhaps the Pro Version already does it but I'm only using the standard version.

Any way than you for your help, I've learnt something new! :)

If you have time, you might check out my site on your phone/tablet and suggest where I could make any improvements.

Regards,
Lou

Hello Lou,
the header now is a lot less cluttered.
Checking the website again, I now noticed that the horizontal scrolling was not caused by the header alone: the footer also has an image larger than the working area for this breakpoint, I recommend resizing that as well.
I remain available.
