While progressing on a page while building it I go to preview option and screen goes to white and not preview. I go bank and click on ok and then preview and back to a blank white screen. My netframe is current. It forces me to end program, restart and go back and then it works once or twice then problem repeats.
Ver frustrating.

Hello Jack,
Sorry to hear about the trouble you are experiencing whilst using the preview.
What content is on the page which you are trying to preview? Do you get the blank white screen on random pages, all pages, or any page in particular?
Are there links to any external sites or scripts involved?
Kind regards,
Paul

Happened again tonight. Create a full page text cell. Wrote text in word then copied and pasted on text cell page. Preview worked once. Added a few sentences and hit preview and nothing. Closed page and went back to a previous page and tried to preview and again nothing. Close program, come back and preview and works two or three times and then again nothing.
PC- MS Windows 8.1
Vesrsion WEBsite ex 5 V10 with updates.
Have install netframes and no effect.
This is adding hours to my work.
Hello Jack,
I have notified Incomedia of the issue on your behalf. I am sure they will respond in due course via this thread.
I have had very occasional white screens in preview when working with X5 over the years, but nothing which has necessitated closure and restarting of the program. I have always been able to view the preview correctly on the second attempt... So maybe this needs closer investigation on a technical level.
Thanks for your patience in the meantime.

Hello Jack,
Is the same happening the same also on a new project or just on one?
Did you try to uninstall the program and then to install it again to see if this helps?
Many thanks!

It continues. I was just creating a new page. I created a text cell then imported from my C: drive from a director where I have hundreds of graphic file. Imported no problem. It occupies the upper left corner of the page. Now I have typed in text and positioned text beside the graphic. Went to save and saved then hit preview button and nothing appears though the page name remains in the address box. Very very frustrating. Attempted to reinstall software (Websitex5 ver.10) no problem but issue continues.

Considered upgrading to Ver. 11 but if I experience the same issue I would not be a happy camper. May be time to use other software since this problem persists.
Thanks for the input!
Not sure if this is the same problem. I'm re-doing a site I made using version 8 (not exactly thrilled to have to do this). I have the two versions up and running side by side., and I've discovered that in the version 10 site I can preview documents (mainly pdf files) but I cannot preview any excel spreadsheets.
Hello Jack,
If the same happens also with a new project then something on the computer is not working correctly or is blocking the program.
For the .NEt Framework did you follow these steps?
Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features > Turn Windows features on or off
Clear the check box for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1 and then click on OK. Clear also the check box for Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 and then click on OK.
After Windows disables the feature you will need to go back to re-enable Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1 and 4.5 and then click ok.
Chekc also if there is a firewall or antivirus setting which could block the preview or its port. Try to go to the preferences and change the preview port to another number and then test it again to see if it works.
Many thanks!

Not to be rude but I am retired after owning and managing a computer company for 26 years. I had offices in three states and worked on varied complex issues. We built networks and servers. I only mention this because I assure you I have tried a list of attempted solutions. My hardware is 1 year old. Running I7 Pentium 3MHZ, 12MB ram and 3GB HD. I have few issues with other software. At this point I just want to finish site, publish it and then go to either another version or another software. Today in three hours it froze 6 times (I hit preview, screw go blank, address is at correct page but it hangs). I go to my task manager and see the activity, it uses CPU resources but goes no where.
Reinstalled software twice. Ran McAfee two nights ago and cleaned a few spyware issues but nothing that would interrfer with WEBsit5x. It seemed to happen after last upgrade but read upgrade info and that should not have effected this building/preview. Big mystery?
Thanks
Jack I have been using X5 evolution 10 and 11, latest updates installed, and they have been running without fault on my system, Acer iconia w700, i5, 4gig ram, 128SSD, Win8.1 and another Acer laptop previously, which turned out to be a lemon, decided to spit the dummy and die. The only known problem I had was a few templates were not live updating properly on 11, but that problem has been fixed for a while now.
The only thing that I can suggest you try, if you have another computer, to install X5 onto it do exactly the same thing you wanted to do with your project and see how it performs. If the same happens, you can be pretty much assured a certain chain of events causes X5 to become unstable, this will give support a definate direction to look.
I have the same issue, i turn back to X5 10 version because i think that v11 is not tested for production enough.
Works fine for me, created lots of test sites without any problems so far, does your problems only happen if you are converting a site from 10 to 11.
Hello Jack,
The latest update should not affect at all your version 10.
If you start a new project does the same happens?
Did you install any new program on the computer before you started to experience this issue?
Can you please also try to see if deactivating the antivirus, after you disconnected from internet, if you still experience the same issue?
Many thanks!

I have discovered one issue and that is when I paste a graphic file on the page and paste a second graphic if the overlap the slightest and I go to preview nothing happens. Second discovery is if I save the page after working on it and then preview it does not freeze as often. I will take you advice and turn off Macafee will working and see if that makes a difference. It is probably the only thing I did not try.
Thanks
Hello Jack,
Thank you for the informations you collected by testing it.
Please let me know if disabling it helps the preview to work correctly.
Many thanks!
I am having the same problem vir V11.0.2.14
I can not preview any of my pages, all I see is corrupted garbage on the screen.
The preview was working fine, until the latest update.
So now I have to update my site, and view online, to see if I am satisfied with thechages that I have made.
This is very very annoying.

Hmmm...I have another thread "Memory Problems" which is my own personal experience of the problems being discussed above.
I went through a whole range of tests with Kaspersky but the eating up of memory in the PREVIEW problem is very much ongoing.
I have Claudio looking at a set of text images in my site to see if these are causing the problem.
XCould be an interesting result.

Using the Preview function in my Version 10 still SOMETIMES causes the program to crash. It's certainly not often but it still happens.
A worse problem is when I try to add an image to my Blog post. This causes the computer to blue screen and crash completely. It's a new problem I haven't had before.
Wayne,
have you ever download a program for check your memory? I suggest you to do so, you might have a block or 2 that does not work inside your memory, and when the software push your memory you will ended up with blue screen, you should reed the blue screen error next time to see what it says, it could be memory or it could be hard drive!
this is not the solution, just a suggestion
