I am having problems.
1. When starting V11 the front page did not load, even after some hours
2. From site map got on to page but individual elements would not open, just blank page
3. Suggested re-installing software
4. Reloaded v11 software and activated. Entered code and then error window popped up, advising there was no internet connection to the server, which was not true as I have internet connection.
I am at a loss at what to do as cannot do anything now!

Edward,
Try the activation procedure with firewall off.
Also check if .net framework is up to date.

Hi,
Still nothing!
Have tried switching off Firewall but this did not make any difference.
Then updated Microsoft. NET to 4.5.2 and rebooted but still the same error message appears after entering the Product Key that Activation Program was not able to connect to the server.
Not sure what else I can do.
Any other ideas?
Ed
Hello Edward,
Could you also please try briefly switching off any anti-virus package whilst attempting to activate? You may need to add an 'exception' to your anti-virus rules.
Kind regards,
Paul

Hi Paul,
I use AVG and turned both anti-virus and web protection off and same old message coming up that can't activate through server.

If you are connecting to the internet via a proxy server, try to bypass it.
Likewise, look for any other components in your network which may be blocking WebSite X5... such as hardware firewalls, router settings, etc.
If all else fails you may have to try unlocking the program manually using the instructions here:
https://helpcenter.websitex5.com/post/25631
Your initial post suggests that something is blocking WebSite X5 from accessing the internet. Have you made any recent changes to your computer/network setup? Anything at all... no matter how minor it may seem?

Thank you for your continuing help.
The unlock code was successful in so far as it enabled the front page to open but unfortunately the latter did not load. Clicking on Start brought me to the first page but when clicked on the website and 'next' it would not load saying project in use or not closed correctly.
I have uninstalled all software loaded post 1 December (last time website was working) : Ralink( wifi driver). However there have been updates to Flash Player and Firefox and I also re-installed v11 and loaded Microsoft.NET 4.5.2 as suggested.
You may well be right in something blocking Website X5 but how do you find out where the block might be. I have tried with AVG disabled and Firewall off and it is the same.
I also tried to return to previous back up position but this failed.

Out of interest I checked to see if v10 was working OK and earlier version of website loaded fine and I was able to open pages etc..
Although the Front Page was blank,
Does this help?

I have a hunch that restoring your project from a backup will cure any remaining issues, Edward.
Can you please follow the instructions in the following post:
https://helpcenter.websitex5.com/post/47713
Follow the advice given to Evolution 10 users... I realise you have version 11, but the procedure is the same apart from the obvious slight difference in path names.
Please keep us updated.
Many thanks,
Paul
Unfortunately this suggests that something is still amiss with your network/internet settings... something which has only changed fairly recently.
However, it should not interfere with your ability to upload your projects to your server.
This may help you a little as you can continue to work on your X5 projects now that the program is unlocked, whilst we try and work out where exactly your internet connectivity problem lies.

Unfortunately project still wouldn't load. I tried 3 different files and same problem of 'being in use or not closed correctly'.

I will ask Claudio from Incomedia for further assistance, Ed. Please continue to monitor this thread for a response from Incomedia shortly.
Thank you for your patience in the meantime.
Whilst you are waiting there is one last thing I could suggest. Try to restore once more from a backup, but this time do so on a clean boot... i.e. reboot your computer and swap the backup files around before WebSite X5 has loaded... then open WebSite X5 for the first time since your PC booted. Hope that makes sense
All the best,
Paul
Hello Edward,
Can you please send me a screenshot of how the frontpage looks like?
Can you please also try to start windowes in safe mode and then check if the front page loads correctly?
About the message you receive when you open the projects this appears if the program is forced to be closed when the project has been loaded.
Check these also in windows in safe mode to see if then you also get the same message.
Many thanks!

Hi,
Screenshots attached for your info.
In safe mode the front page opened but then there was no difference in the next screens.
I'll post all of them

Last one showing Safe Front Page
Hello Edward,
Since the front page loads in safe mode then there is a program which is blocking it. In safe mode not all programs are started and so the only option is to disable all services running in background until you find the one which blocks it.
About the projects which cannot be opened try to see if restoring the backup files it makes them work again. you find the instructions on how to proceed on following link:
https://helpcenter.websitex5.com/post/47713
Many thanks!

Thanks for this!
This is moving me well beyond my current IT skills and so I will need to seek help with the above from somebody better equipped than me.
I'll keep you posted.

You will be pleased to hear that I have now successfully restored V11. Re-installing Windows 7 was the only option left having tried everything else and so it was rather tedious but more importantly, it did work. With my best wishes for 2015
