Add a Shipping Cost by Quantity option

I have a website that sells fabric by meter.

The cost depends on the amount meters that is being sold.

I now mimic this by setting every item weight to 1 so I know the amount of items (thus amount meters) by the weight. But that's not the nice way to do, an extra option would be nicer.
