Website x5 Evolution 10 has stopped working
Autor: Patrick B.I’ve been having problems with Website X5 Evolution 10 for a long time now. I bought it January 2014 and didn’t use it properly until that summer because I had a website built on the older Evolution 7 and this wasn’t compatible with the new version so I was waiting until I had time to rebuild my website. When I started using version 10 everything was fine for a while, then the program began to have problems. I would be working away and after previewing my work a few times it would crash and tell me to reinstall the program. If I reopened the program I could always work away again and upload my website. I didn’t mind this little bug but now I have a serious problem. The program won’t open my project at all now. I get the message “The specified project is in use or has not been closed correctly. Do you want to continue?” A window comes us saying “Initialising Project files” and nothing happens. Then I get an error window that says “An error has occurred. This application will be closed and the Project file will be saved in a temporary copy that can be restored at startup. In order to help us improve Website X5, write a short description of what you were doing and send us the file with the error report”
I click details and the code below shows up. I try to start the program again and it happens again. I try to start a new project and it lets me progress then it previews and saves no problem until I close the program and open it again when I encounter the exact same problem with the new project. I have seen several similar problems in the forums and tried their suggestions, I have tried reinstalling the program, the microsoft.net framework solution, the importing from backup, but nothing has worked. I used evolution 7 for six years and never encountered a problem with it.
Please help

Hello Patrick,
As first uninstall the program and download the installer you find under "downloads" in your profile on http://answers.websitex5.com since you are using an old update and it is better to update the program always to the latest release.
By downloading the installer from your profile you wil lautomatically have the latest version.
Once done try to test again the program to see if you still experience the same issue. If the problems should still be present please let me know what windows version you have. Check also if the same happens with a new project or just with one.
Many thanks!

Hi Claudio, thanks for the reply.
I did as you advised, uninstalled and downloaded the program from my profile. It worked first time and I got my original website project back working. Unfortunately when I closed the program and tried it again the original problem returned. I repeated the uninstalling and reinstalling process and the same thing happened. I had access to my project initially but as soon as I closed it and tried to open the program again the same error message arrived = 17/01/2015 01:53:10 [EXCEPTION] Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {56FDF344-FD6D-11D0-958A-006097C9A090} failed due to the following error: 8007000e Not enough storage is available to complete this operation.
What should I do next?

Sorry I forgot to add I am using Windows 7 SP1 64 bit OS with an Intel Celeron CPU 925 @2.3GHz and 4.00GB Ram
Patrick, I will suggest you to uninstall it, then restart your computer, then install it again and make sure your drive has enough space.

Hi Anthony, thanks for replying. Unfortunately it didn't work either. I got a similar result to Claudio's advice. It worked at first and I started working at my project relinking pictures when it crashed. It saved a temporary file before closing. When I relaunced the program it asked me did I want to load the temporary file. I selected yes and this is when the familiar “An error has occurred. This application will be closed and the Project file will be saved" appeared.
Is it too late to request a refund because I am beginning to think there is a fault in the program itself.
Hello Patrick,
If you have the possibility try to install the program on another computer where you import the project you made (the IWZIP file) to test if also there you have the same issue.
From the error message it seems to depend on a windows component. If on another computer the project can be opened more times without the same error probably it will be necessary to repair windows to see if this helps to fix the issue.
Many thanks!

Claudio, you little beauty. What you said about repairing windows gave me an idea. I right clicked on the shortcut and clicked troubleshoot compatability, the program started up, reloaded the project files and now I'm back in business!
Thank you so much!

I even edited a file, closed the program and restarted it again and it opened up no problem.
You're a legend.
Hello Patrick,
I'm glad to hear this helped you to solve the experienced issue.
If you should continue to have the same issue please let me know.
Many thanks!

Claudio, I'm sorry to say the problem is back and my above solution isn't working anymore. Have you any other suggestions? Is there any patches for the program? It keeps telling me that the program is in use or has not been closed properly. Before if I pressed ok it would proceed and allow me to work on my project. Now it just freezes. At this stage I'm so fed up of the program that I am considering going back to using evolution 7, I never had a problem with that program. I haven't been able to upload new content to my website in a month.

Hello Patrick,
As it seems the error you get the issue comes from a problem in Windows where a component is not working correctly. The best option is to see if installing all windows updates the issue can be fixed. If this should not help it will be necessary to proceed to repair the windows installation hoping the component will be repaired too with this procedure so you can work on your project.
Many thanks!
