Hi,

After my problems with entry page resolution problems, i started using the responsive layout options. However, i am now having problems with this. I am sure it is me not understanding how this is working.

I have attached a screen shot showing a a page payout, blocks 1,2,3 are not what i want as i can not seperate block 2 and 3. The layout i wanted was in order on mobile 2,1,5,3,4. It looks find on desktop in the layout order it is shown, i want something different on mobile.

Why is 2 & 3 joined? I also cant seem to change the order to what i want either, if i set block 2 to 1 then it automatically sets 3 to 2, not what i want.

Sorry if this is a simple question, but i have read the help file with no luck.

Thanks

I have been testing this all morning with no luck.

I have also checked out a few alternative software solutions offering responsive designs and i have to say they are really good, simple and look modern (especially if you have a MAC).

If i can't get to the bottom of this by the end of day, i am giving up on Website x5 completely. It's a great product let down by poor documentation and support.

I am just wasting money trying to get things working, if i wanted to do this much work, i would have bought Dreamweaver etc.

Hi,

I had the same problem with ordering the text boxes in responsive design and discovered that I needed to redefine every block separately, beginning with the block I wanted to appear first, second, third, etc. all the way down to the last block, rather than just redefining the order of a few of the blocks. In other words, I had to click on every box in the order I wished them all to appear, regardless of whether or not some of them were already in the order I wanted.  That solved the problem for me.  Good luck.

Cindy

Hi Cynthia G,

Thank you for the imformation.

however, the problem is that it will not allow me to select the blocks in the order i want, i.e. when i select box 1, it then automatically moves to block 2, and i can't change this. I assume that it is becuase those two blocks are joined, but i don't know why.

Thanks

Hello P.S.,

You say that you have read the help file...  did you read about Object Blocks and Inseperable Blocks?  This is what you are experiencing:

http://help.websitex5.com/en/v12/pro/index.html?responsive_order_ht.htm

Objects 2 and 3 form an Object Block because they are adjacent to Object 1 which occupies space on both rows.

Kind regards,

Paul

Hello Paul,

Yes, i have read it. And i have tried the suggestion in it "we recommend you try and simplify the layout of the objects to give yourself more freedom in setting up the display order.", but i can't understand much more simple i can make it.

Because it occupies the same space as object 1, in a row, i can't figure why that causes a problem. Everything is in simple rows and colums.

It appears to be near impossible to build this without getting into this situation.

I think what i need is a solution that includes a template, as i am just not getting it.

Hello P. S.,

The program needs to calculate how to organize the objects and to adapt them to different widths and it organizes them in blocks. To have them separated the thrid object needs to be moved below object 1.

Many thanks!
