Can anybody tell how the images / buttons at the "websiteX5 web / how it works" was created ?

Hello Arne,
If you look at the source code of that webpage then you will see that the icons are simple images with a corresponding hyperlink when clicked.
Any image can be used in WebSite X5 in this way. You can even create your own buttons out of images using utilities such as the following:

You can insert as many Image Objects on a page within WebSite X5 as you need, in rows or columns as necessary. Set the hyperlink in accordance with the helpfile instructions:

How to indicate mouse over - showing another image ?
In Step 3 Page Creation > Image Object > Display (tab) > Mouse Over Effects... select 'Image Overlayed' from the drop-down menu, and set the Image File field to the location of the other image.
