I do not always get my flyers in PDF. So I found a program that converts to PDF but I have to use IFRAME feature on the pdf viewer. Now the flyer on the left is the google viewer from a PDF I was sent. The flyer on the right is a PDF format from a convertor, but it would not show up in google viewer so I had to use Iframe (for the record I like Iframe better)  but Iframe only shows half the screen when it is live . Every setting is the same but google/iframe.

This is the google viewer

Hello Lauren,

Yes, you are correct. The iFrame feature in X5 Professional only appears to work on desktop computers. When viewed on my Apple iPad or Apple iPhone, only a small left-hand side portion of the PDF inside the iFrame shows up.

Even worse, there is NO functionality of the iFrame on my portable Apple devices. In other words, there is no ability to scroll the PDF either vertically or horizontally, no ability to resize the PDF page, no ability to download (ie: save) the page, no ability to print the page, and no ability to search the PDF.

As a matter of interest, on my desktop PC, the operations listed above are also NOT working in the Microsoft Edge browser (only vertical scrolling works). WAKE UP Microsoft! However they all work perfectly in Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Opera.

I'm not sure if Incomedia can fix the iFrame problems on portable Apple devices. I'm guessing this is a limitation of iOS on the Apple platform.

Can someone at Incomedia please confirm this?

Hello Lauren

When looking at your site using Chrome, it seems OK to me.

It seems that your "converted" PDF does not have a correct extension. After the PDF there is an extra extension - try to rename your converted PDF file.

You could use "real" iframes. This will give the possibility to use targets so you can change the content for an iframe by clicking on a link.

You can see an example here : http://calendarforum.dk/examples.html

You can of course view PDF files as well in the iframe. You can see another example here :

http://www.energifremtiden.dk/c4d/natur.html

Here you can see text and images by clicking on the thumbnails and the flags.

Kind regards

John S.

Update: I do not see a way to change the extensions. The file is says "xxxx.pdf" that extra extension must have came with the conversion.... what is it an "a" or something? What convertor do yall use?

Lauren, your pdf now appears fine on my PC, but if you are still having issues with other devices, especially apple, here is what I did.

I maintain a website for a small newsletter, and to overcome the issues experienced by IOS users, I resorted to saving a thumbnail of the front page, saving it as a picture on the webpage and linking that picture to the pdf. This offered major speed improvements for the webpage and overcame all the issues with mobile users because the minute they click or tap the pdf image it now opens full screen rather than trying to display the pdf as the page loads.

Since your pdf files are only single pages, why not simply do a screen capture and place on your site? You could still link to the pdf file or simply display a larger size image on mouseover or touch if required.
