Need help with shopping cart  en

I am trying to set up my shopping cart for my products. I want to be able to have a standard handling charge per an order and then charge postage for the products by weight. In the product settings is the weight box 1.00g or 1.00kg? also how do I set up the handling charge?

Thank you.

Hi Kevin.

As far as the weight is concerned, it is up to you, and it is never specified when looking at a product.

It is only a backscene info used to place additional costs to the order just in case the user exceeds a certain limit in weight for the shipment.

Inside the cart settings, you can set this under Order Management, per each delivery method you set as available.

It is unclear to me where exactly the handling cost would be displayed, could you provide an in depth explanation about this to me?

Thank you

Stefano

Hi Stefano,

The handling charge is to cover the cost of packaging and is added to the final total of the order so the final charges displayed would be along the lines of: Postage £1.87: Handling Charge £2.00: Total £3.87. The handling charge is only applied once to an order, the postage charge vaires according to the weight of the order.

If it is not possible to put this charge in the Shipping Type List along with the postage charge, is it possible to put it in the Payment Type List? Will that get around the the problem?

Hi Kevin.

The easiest way to achieve this, I would believe is the following :

When you're creating the delivery method, you can edit its name:

For example, it might become : "Express delivery" -> "Express delivery + handling" and you set the total price for it.

Could this work for you?

Please let me know

Stefano
