X5 v16 stops working on start

Each time I start my X5 v16 program it stops on the start up page and I cannot proceed any further although all of the help links work. I also tried using X5 v15 and the same thing happens!
How can I get the programs working again?

Brian, if this is happening in both v16 and v15 the problem is not WX5.
If it is getting to this screen, perhaps it is an internet issue. Can you click the green arrow to bypass internet update?

Are you getting to this screen?
If the program is being blocked, it is most likely a 3rd party program like anti-virus, malware, firewall or even vpn, can you disable (or temporarily remove) all these possibilities?
If the problem is not software, could it possibly be a hardware issue (perhap run chkdsk)??
