Control bars in X5 Evo  en

Hi, as a new user of X5 Evo I am producing my first website for my Daughter who sings.  The site is at www.jesswilks.co.uk and I am having a couple of problems.  Videos have the control bar enabled but it is huge and it spoils the look of the page.  The other problem is displaying the audio control bar in Safari and Chrome when I use certain styles for the container, it simply doesn't show.  Is there a way of controlling the size and shape of the control bars?  Ideally I would like the bar embedded into the picture dispalyed.

Thanks fpr any advice you may give, looked in the help pages but could not find any answers there.

Just an update, I have found a workaround by padding out the place holder with black it looks alot better but I would really like to be able to set the control bar to the size I want.

Hello Jeremy,

The appearance of the control bar is determined by the browser in which your website is displayed.  The various browsers have differing methods for rendering the controls.

This is not a WebSite X5 issue as such.

You could look into incorporating a custom media player into your webpage.  You can find these on the internet, and most have instructions on how to embed the player in your site.

WebSite X5 also market a custom player of their own:

https://market.websitex5.com/en/objects/live-preview/fdd12a11-ad32-4124-b114-5981b955e7

I have never used it personally, but it would probably give you the sort of control over appearance that you are looking for.

Kind regards,

Paul

Here is an example of a free media player which is fully customisable:

Thanks for the replies, I'll look into it.  With the method I am now using is it possible to change the size of the holder the audio/video sits in with out adding lots of empty rows and columns?

I'll get the hang of it.

Again, thanks for the reply.  I have changed these sizes but the ones I want to change are the place holders as in the attached image.  Should be able to match the size to the object being placed somehow.

I think I'm getting it, last question, be patient, as in the picture I attached how do I have say 3 columns on one row then say 4 on the next then 2 on the next?  Last question i promise.  Tried formatting rows and unlocking the padlocks but with out success.

Thanks again.

You can't mix and match the number of columns in that way, but what you can do is break the page layout up into many columns, then adjust the width of the Objects to suit your requirements.  For example, using your illustration above:

Hope that helps.

OK thanks again, just been experimenting with that.  I think my questions have been answered and I appreciate the quick reponses.  Going to play around with some empty templates and get used to it.

Thanks again.

When you had finished creating your Page Layout did you end up with any empty cells with nothing in them?  This can sometimes cause crashes like you've experienced.

If so, fill the empty cells up with an Object, the simplest example probably being the Text Object.  You don't need to enter any data into the Objects which are used as placeholders in this way (in fact, you specifically don't want to)  -  just make sure there are no unused spaces left on your Page Layout.

If this doesn't cure your issue then we'll ask Incomedia for their comments on your specific error message.
