Coolest intro I have ever seen  en

noisis.gr

The coolest intro I have ever encountered. Gallery (?) (on mouseover it shines), with the company logo in the middle. Set as background pic (at Template Structure?) without Header (Header and Header Background has to be 0 at Template Structure) and... no menu bar. Just a sticky bar that "sticks" on scroll down.

How can someone replicate this?

By the way... I have been talking to you guys more than I have to my family these days! I appreciate it so much! If anybody comes in Athens, I am buying coffee

Thank you

D

Hello Dimitrios

X5 is not capable to do something like this.

Other software can do this.

If you want it in your project you have to use special code.

You can see an example of some code here :

https://www.w3schools.com/howto/howto_js_navbar_sticky.asp

And the "try how" and the code :

https://www.w3schools.com/howto/tryit.asp?filename=tryhow_js_navbar_sticky

And you have to do something special if you want the fixed background to have the masonry gallery as you cannot make it with the background possibilities that is in X5.

You could eventually have a menu object on the page and then make it sticky as it reaches the top - like it is done with the div.

John, how do you use the html code in that case? Do I insert a menu at the desired location ... and then?

Hello Dimitrios,

Sorry to intervene, just a thought from me.

Remember that x5 is nice, you can make a great home site or even better. But you can't make what a profesional does with x5. Sites that cost's way over what x5 cost will alway's be better and nicer.

Use what x5 offers you, if x5 was extremely good, you would not need a profesional and they would use it also.

The more custom coding the more change that things get messy!

My advice stick to the possibilities of x5, and try to create effects that come close or look like pro's website's with standard settings or with the extra objects within x5, at least for the look and feel.

You can make great website's with it, but don't stare yourself blind on profesionally made site's.

On the page you could have an empty html object where you set the height to the page-height.

This will do, that you will see the background image or what you use as background.

You then have a menu-object, and under that you have the rest of your page.

When you scroll you will see the menu ( and rest of the page ) scroll up and disappear at the top.

You want the menu to be sticky when it reaches the top.

In a html-object, you use some of the code from the example - but instead the div, you use the id of the menu object.

This should make the menu-object be sticky when it reaches the top.

You could also mage the page without template and then use ( some of )  the code from the example. As there is only one page, you don't need a menu. The "links" should be to anchors instead then.

I posted after Andre.

I told you a way, but I think you will not get full what you want anyway. If you are not familiar with coding, Html and CSS then special coding is maybe not the way to go.

Do as Andre tells and see how far you can get to what you want with the standard.

Or - look for another tool that can do what you want.

Dimitrios, just like Andre said, and for the same reasons, I avoid code like the plague.

There is an optional object (justified gallery) https://market.websitex5.com/en/objects/live-preview/23b8d5b1-3e44-410a-b39e-254a0c735b3 that can offer a similar (with various overlay effects) and complete with links to pages, descriptive text, etc

You could create a version of your example by setting header to depth 2 px and adding a sticky bar with logo, menu, etc. This would become visible on page movement (scroll).

Design the page with the first row of cells as the justified gallery, then in the next rows place your page content as normal and if you wish make it a single page with anchors to jump to sections of the page via levels for menu.

Not the same, but close enough using drag and drop?

Example https://www.esahc.com/dimitrios (only the top left image has a link to page1)

Grab the example project https://www.esahc.com/dimitrios/Dimitrios3.iwzip

Dear Guys

Esahc: I definitely will haahahahahaha. Thank you for your help also about the other questions I have posted from time to time.

Andre: You are quite right. Still, by "pushing the limits", we find out the possibilities of a great program (that can still get better) such as x5 and we also keep learning and improve. Another thing is... If X5 offered what am I asking for a reasonable price (credits), I would buy it! And my guess is, more people would buy that so it could be an opportunity for the x5 to "sell more"

John: I will definitely try your proposal with the sticky bar and the HTML object. As long as there is a pretty picture at the beginning and the sticky bar slides from bottom and sticks to the top on scroll down, it is what I need. I ll tell you.in a couple days if I have a question

Happy Holidays to all once again

Hello Dimitrios

Please tell when/if you have something to function - and maybe a link.

Maybe in  the beginning of the new year, I will make some tests with something like that - maybe.

Dear John

Sparta.com.gr

The idea is to have a fixed background pic with our best Medicinal Wild Olive Oil and at the bottom the sticky bar. On scrolling down the sticky bar stays up (covering the fixed  the background) and the web page follows

Of course if it is not ready, I can not upload it since customers enter the website daily.

If you have something in mind, feel free to tell

Hello Dimitrios

I have made a quick test  http://eksempelsite.dk/sparta

As I do not use X5 at the moment, I made it in an old version ( v12).

You should be able to see if something like this could be a start for you. If you want to know what is done, then I could make some explanation on the site.

In the newer versions there is much more possibilities - instead of a fixed image you could have a slideshow as background, and the objects can be animated and..

I have not spent much time on the site. You will maybe find that it could be more responsive - or maybe something else. I do not intend to use more time on it. It was just to show you what I meant could be done.

If you would like to play with some of the possibilities, then you could make a subfolder for your site, and upload a project to that folder.

But as said before : If you are not experienced in html, CSS and coding, then ...

But learning by doing is a good thing.

Even if you will never achieve what you want, then the road to where you find out that you could not make all the things you wanted, could be very valuable and "learningfull".

Only the health-benefits and the products is made with anchors.

For the health-benefit is made separate pages. On these pages is the "normal" menu.

When clicking health-benefits orthe products in the "normal" meny will send you to the anchor for that item.

On the "normal" menu health-benefits, there is made a dropdown.

Can you give me explanations/instructions? We will "learn by doing", as you say

Thank you once again

Just seen it. Thank you for all of this. We just need the how to for the sticky bar using the x5. The rest, more or less, we know how to do it.

I have made a new test here : http://eksempelsite.dk/sparta02/index.html

This test uses the "normal" menu system. It is styled with the sticky option.

So no code used - only 2 lines of CSS to make the menu object sticky and to place it in the z-direction.

On this page I have made 2 objects sticky : http://eksempelsite.dk/sparta02/medicinal-uses-per-nutrient.html

This is to also have the content header visible.

It should function in the most common browsers.

Hope INCOMEDIA by time will make this an option in the X5.

Thanx to John that created a "hovering sticky bar template" and adjusted the website.on it. It still has a couple of problems (iPad not compatible for example) but it generally works great

Thank you once again John!
