Selling access (not downloads) to a Digital Magazine  en

Hi all,

I'm setting up a website for a local magazine that wants to offer online reading access (using WSX5 Pro).

Rather than offering downloads of e.g. a PDF file, we'd rather give customers the ability to view each magazine on-screen, via a 'flipbook' reader.  I've tested this facility privately, and it works fine.

The difference from PDF downloads is that the customer would not receive anything other than an email notification, but instead would be given a "view-code" which allows them to read the magazine.

I'd really appreciate your thoughts on how best to achieve this in WSX5.

Many thanks in advance, Jem Cotton

Hello Jem,

That's a nice idea and it can be done in x5, but you need to give acces to a page, where you can place the article, manualy, or at least tell x5 what customer can read a specific article.

And set that page as locked, for every article.

If these are a few readers and a few articels it might be do-able.

But for a lot of users and even more different articles it is not recommended. The you can better use the shop and download option.

Maybe somebody else has a better idea or there might be external software then can handle this more sufficiently. I would not recomend it anyway.

Hi Jem,

if you don't need the download link to be shipped, you could set up an e-commerce for physical products where so shipping method is available: in this way, the customers buy the access to the wished page, you get the order and give them the login credentials via e-mail.

Please let me know if I can be of further help. Kind regards
