Hello to the US / Canada based web-shop owners!

My question for you is:

"What credit card processing service do you use with WSX5 made web-shops?"

***
Are you using PayPal only or have you implemented any others?

Thank you in advance for your feedback - cheers!

See my posting to other thread you are in titled "How do I indert a table..." for some additional comments

I have some non X5 older sites that use paypal buttons - works ok - the problem is it isn't always intuitive for all paypal users that they can use a credit card as well as their paypal balance to pay.  Those legacy sites are being replaced by cs-cart powered sites soon.

New sites using CS-cart allows paypal or credit cards through stripe (see firesleeveusa.com to see how it looks)

My main X5 site which is commercial/industrial focused doesnt take payment when making the order - (yet - waiting for stripe integration from x5) (and waiting, and waiting, and waiting).  Reason is we can't really calculate the shipping as every customer order is unique with product mix, shipping weight and packaging and international destinations - so we calculate it all and then contact customer back to complete order.  If we had a payment gateway we might take the good payment and then a second payment for the shipping once the shipping cost is known)

So far we do not have customers that complain about the process.

See my link here to read how it works:

@ Adrian

Thank you very much for your detailed answer!

I'll familiarize myself tomorrow with your "ad-hoc" solution (yeah, having STRIPE or 2checkout...) will be a nice thing to have - but I do not think those would be implemented in years...

Axel, WSX5 power-user, has successfully implemented (among many other Payment Gateways) BORGUN credit card PG (great for EU) - but BORGUN it's not available for USA/Canada...

Adrian, we'll be in touch - cheers!

Clarification....  On the Interac payment system in Canada.... The sender must have an account with a participating bank, and the receiver must also have an account with a participating bank.  All of the major banks in Canada participate.  Its a very good easy to use system.

@ Adrian

Thank you!

Yes, BORGUN is fair-priced, no commissions... unfortunately, not yet available for users in North America...

BTW - I have look-up your site and I get why will be a pain in the a** to calculate the shipping costs.

I had an archery-target web-shop (I made my own targets and accessories) and I have entered shipping costs ranges according to the total mass (kg) of the package.

Yes, there were some "approximations" and "limits" to be made - but the shipping-price "classes" were well defined - and the final shipping price was fair to the buyer. I also established some of my own postal zones with similar shipping costs (EU North, EU West etc.). I had 20 something products total - and I know you have a lot more - I get that, but with the i.e. STRIPE payment implemented - I think you could make a similar "shipping-classification" with your products as well.

Cheers!

Yes I agree - we could make some flat rate approximations, or adjust our prices so it absorbs the shipping cost.  The big problem is the choice of shipments - ground vs next day air for example....  in some cases the next day air cost is far greater than the cost of the item.

Our CS-cart site is better as it does live shipping cost based on the fact that for each item we know the weight and box size for each item. That was a lot of work. But the result is really accurate shipping costs to anywhere.

But that is a product "micro-site"; only 2000 items - our main site is 28000 items; a much bigger job and x5 does not have live shipping integration.  We could move it to CS-cart but X5 is a better solution for mixing page content and a cart - Cs-cart is a better solution if the product content is thin.

If X5 made some cart improvements it would be #1............ better credit card processing and live shipping integration..... just two items would make X5 the king of web site software.
