To resize or not  en

I am creating my first photography site in W5. I am not sure whether or not to resize images before posting them on a website page. I must confess I'd just as soon avoid the process because of its impact on my workflow and storage management routines.

Here are my questions:

> Are there any implications of concern of not resizing?

> If my primary concern is preventing viewers from downloading or copying and printing my images (instead of purchasing a print) can I deal with that by watermarking or turning off the ability of a viewer to print or download OR ???

My images are JPG and are still in the original "Fine" resolution from my digital camera.

Thanks in advance

I would use Irphanview https://www.irfanview.com/ A tool that can optimize jpg file's (make filesize smaller) and can add watermark file's in a batch job

Thank you. I will check it out. I assume it is used to process / resize and watermark the images before posting to W5?. Does it then save as a new file leaving the original file intact?

Do you have any comment about my questions regarding the need to resize?

All processing must be done before you add them to your project. There are many options to choose from, see screenshot

And for your question to resize or not. It depends if your pictures are for example 3000X3000 then yes. The file size will be much smaller after resizing and therefore the webpage will load faster.

To protect your website there is a option in step 1 under privacy that can be selected to prevent  visiters downloading the images.

Regards resizing: Yes you should resize. Google does not like big images and the performance on your site will suffer if you use big images.

Regarding Privacy: It will only prevent real amateurs to copy the images. And even an amateur can take a printscreen.

If you want to show some images in full-size then make a link. And maybe insert a watermark in the full-size image. As Teljeur already mentions, Irfanview is a good tool for that.

Regarding the size of images on your page - there is no need to have an image that is bigger that it will be on screen. Images can normally be resized to 50 - 150 kb. Dont use PNG's unless you need the transparency.
