The latest update advertised on the opening page crashes install and then stops program from re-opening needing program downloading and reinstalling - and yes, the update button causes the same problem - stupidly I tried it again!
Rolling back windows does not fix the broken install and needs the program to be reinstalled...
Any ideas why?

Mark, in your profilr (top right this page) select download and reinstall.

Hi Esahc, I did download and reinstalled - this worked but the problem with the start page update still exists - I tried it and had to reinstall again!
The program works fine as long as I don't click on the 'update' button in the bottom left of the opening page to check if there is an update available - which says an update is available, and starting the update fails to update and wrecks the current working install into the bargain...
Mark, are you perhaps running 3rd party AV, malware, VPN or firewall?
Since you are running the latest available version, when you click update are you advised you are fully up to date or does WX5 attempt to download some "newer" version?

WX5 says there is a new update available then tries to download and install it, and then everything fails...
Mark, I have marked your post for Incomedia's attention.
If you could disconnect the internet, restart your PC and then run WX5 and check for updates it may identify whether the issue is on your PC or on retrieval of a file when connected to the internet.

Tried that, WX5 says cannot connect to internet to check for updates - switch on net and WX5 still says update is availible - obviously this time I didn't click yes as I'm fed up of reinstalling the program..!
Mark, are you having any difficulty at all or strange results using any browsers on your PC?
I only ask because I once had a "poisoned DNS" in my modem/router and it would take me to unexpected and unwanted sites for downloads.
None the less I will now quietly await to see what questions Incomedia ask in fault finding your problem. Good luck.
Hi Mark!
What version is reported in the top left corner of the software window?
Thanks! Kind regards.

Hi Elisa,
It says I have version X5 Pro 2022.2.6, and that is exactly what I downloaded and installed after the update failed; and although I can't be sure what version I was running when I first tried the update that failed (as X5 wouldn't re-open), I think it probably was also 2022.2.6 - and it was installed by the previously working update link...
Hi Mark,
I see your licence is enabled to receive Beta updated, so probably the update you see is the Beta one. You can possibly ignore it and directly install the new update as soon as it will be available on the official channel.
Thanks! Kind regards.

The beta update is presented in a different link on the start page. The update link I am refering to is the one that is supposed to update the standard (none beta) program.
Mark, it is possible that there is a corrupted file on your PC. I assume that Incomedia uses the system temp folder when downloading and installing the updates, if this is so you may be able to clear it by emptying the temp folder.
By default this is c:\users\yourname\appdata\local\temp, if you navigate there I would simply select all (ctrl A) and delete (you may have to provide administrator permission). Windows will not allow you to delete anything in use (so don't have WX5 running :-)
Hi!
I confirm that 2022.2.6 is the latest version available on the standard channel.
Thanks! Kind regards.

Hi,
I cleaned out the admin and user appdata temp files, and the windows temp files for good measure.
I also removed the WX5 files out of the Incomedia appdata.
The fault is still there in the program.
Anyone any ideas as to the cause of the update link fault I am experiencing?
Mark, how disappointing.
Is it possible to connect your PC/Laptop to any other internet connection (eg phone hotspot)? This would rule out your internet connection causing the grief.
Short of that, since you are the only person having this issue, how do you feel about doing a clean install of Windows :-) If you go down the clean install route please ensure you visit step 5, export project (ignore backups and preview) and create an iwzip of each project then store somewhere other than your HD.

Esahc, seeing as WX5 is the only program I have problems with I do not feel inclined to reinstall windows!
When I have time I will uninstall WX5 and clean out all files associated with it as I feel that the problem is going to be with one of the windows or registry files being corrupted by the attempted update that failed - I have tried the appdata files and cleaning out the files from the programs folder before reinstalling.
Failing doing that, if no one has any idea how WX5 checks for its current version or why is not recognising the fact that it is already up to date, I'll just not have to check for updates via the programs update check button that has the problem and hope that a future update will overwrite the corrupted file...
OK Mark, I agree, although once upon a time I clean installed Windows just because I purchased WebAnimator and it always crashed when in use.
Good luck.
Mark, are you going to try the upgrade link to get v2022.2.9?
FIX XXXXX UPDATE !!!! ....
Victor, do you have this same problem?
Hi Mark,
please download and install the latest version from this link: https://www.websitex5.com/download/v2022.2/wsx5_pro.exe
@Victor, I am sorry to hear you are having issues too: could you please open a new dedicated topic where you provide us with more details about the problem you are experiencing?
Thanks! Kind regards.
