Maybe your project names is too long.

Could it be that you maybe by copying "accumulates" the project name so that it becomes longer and longer?

Try checking it and tell if this could be the case.

If - then there could be several solutions.

and this is a second path 

F:\My Web\My Webs 23.3.11\1_ciq-main-gr_R4

F: is 1GB partition of a 6GB physical drive

This situation appeared when I upgraded the projects from 2023.3 to 2024.1 

This is a bug in the version.

When I did the same from 2022 to 2023 the upgrade was executed straightforward 

Your drive seems to be an USB key.

Did you tried FAT32 and/or NTFS ?

If the F: drive is USB (or perhaps a network drive or NAS), this has been an issue for a very long time (& has caused many unexpected and catastrophic failures resulting in the loss of whole projects).

Dimitrio, can you create a folder on a local HD, copy your projects there and set it as default? Does this work?

The upgrade from 2023.3 to 2024.1 requires a great deal of traffic (read/writes) to update the project/s, the limitations of the bus connecting external storage may be causing a bottleneck.

However my F: drive is 1TB partition of a 6TB physical LOCAL drive.

For my own secirity reason I have split the 2nd physical drive in D:, E: F: and G: logical drives - partitions. 

I manage 13 main domains & subdomains.

Several of them are upgraded (taking a long time).

Four of them which are the more complex 50-60 pages do not upgrade and the error described above appears.

"Generic error. (the specified path, file name or both are too long. The fully qualified name must be less than 260 characters, and the directory name must be less than 248 characters .... )"

If the error is bogus then ..... I do not know what to say

However I believe that there is a issue for which the appliction does not provide accuarate info.

if the "The fully qualified name must be less than 260 characters" the appliction should descibe which file creates the error.

all projects are in the folder F:\My Web\My Webs 23.3.11, if I have understood correctly, but only some of them, the largest ones, display the error message when you try to open them in version 2024.1.3 (converting them)?

You are right.

All projects are in the folder F:\My Web\My Webs 23.3.11\

Under that forder, I have directories for domains and subdomains

So in

F:\My Web\My Webs 23.3.11\1_ciq-main-gr_R4\     is one project that does not update       www.cubeiq.gr 

F:\My Web\My Webs 23.3.11\3_amlinfo-eu_R41\    is another roject that does not update    www.amlinfo.eu 

....

The "small" projects are updated the large projects are not.

In version 2023 there was not such an error

Dimitrios, did you allow WX5 to duplicate/backup your project when you upgraded to 2024.1?

If so, through your profile you can now download v2023.3.11 and it will run alongside the latest version. Open your project and in step 5 export project to create an iwzip file.

Now open v2024.1 and import the zip file (this will never overwrite the existing project).

Does this fix the problem?
