Intergrade Australia Post api into my online store  en

Hi Everyone,

I am trying to intergrade the Australia Post API into my shopping cart. Australia has vast different postage rates based on weight and dimension of parcel, origin postcode and destination postcode, plus various postage bags with maximum 5kg weight.

The Website X5 Pro shopping cart just has a per kg weight freight calculation. This obviousy doesn't work too well in Australia.

Has anyone out there tried to intergrade the API successfuily and if so could they please help me do so. I am not an expert and have no idea on how to use API's within the Website X5 Pro shopping cart system.

The Australia Post API details can be found here:
https://developers.auspost.com.au/apis/pac/reference

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello John,

After a quick view of your link the good one should be here

https://developers.auspost.com.au/plugins/collection

seems to be to easy solution for integration.
But the free widget downloading is not available... Do you have an access to get it ?

The questioner is looking for a shipping cost calculation for his packages, if I understood correctly.

If no one can be found who can implement the API for WebSiteX5, the only option is to divide customers into different distance zones in combination with the weight of the goods and, if necessary, a surcharge for oversized goods.

Thanks Axel,

Had a look at the so-called "Widget Collection" too, but knowing Australia post, the only widget there is for Parcel Collection choice.

The only other resources they have is with the API for Postage Calculation. Don't know how to and where to add this and how to implement it on the postage page of the checkout process, collecting customer postcode too.

Cheers

John

Thanks Daniel,

Hope someone can help me with this otherwise may have to move to Shopify, which is something I don't wish to do. Your suggestion may help but how do I implement the division of different customer zones. Surely there has to be a better system within Website X5 Pro to allow for this to happen. I'm sure other European Countries have different zones for postage and different zones for different countries, or am I mistaken and the whole of Europe has one flat rate of postage, or even frieght companies.

Maybe this is something the developers may be able to assist me with, or could be intergrated into the software.

Cheers

John

You could expand the country selection to an area selection within a country and set a different surcharge for shipping costs for each area.

-----

How to set different shipping costs according to the customer's purchase country

When you add a new shipping method (see: How to define shipping methods for your store), you can specify a fixed cost or a variable cost, that depends either on the weight or the total amount of the order.

You can additionally set different prices according to the country the customer places the order from, regardless whether it is fixed or variable.

Thanks Daniel,

I knew there would have to be a way to do this. All I needed was for a bit of a guide to do this. Never thought of being able to add a postcode range for a country, just thought they were the countries which you would accept orders from and post to, at set rates.

I will try and set this up today and let you know how I go. Really apprieciate this brainwave of yours... :-)

Cheers

John

Presumably the two data series are related and must contain the same amount of information in the same order for the entire country list to work. I haven't tested it yet.

.

Country code: ...,...,AU,AU,AU...,...

Country names: ...,...,Australia 1234-1290,Australia 1300-1355,Australia 1360-1399,...,...

Thanks again Daniel,

Will give this a try myself later today or tomorrow. Looks like a big job, but probably worth the effort if it works.

Cheers,

John

Thanks again for all your help guys, but still not really working for us. We sell organic cleaning aids which come in seperate measurements. We can fit 3 125ml bottles into a postage bag with Australia post. If we sell 3 500ml bottles and it comes to more than 5kg (example) it can't go into a fixed price bag but has to go in a box, then it depends on where it is posted to.

As you can see we here in Oz have a problem sending parcels with Australia Post, I believe that is why so many companies have moved to including FREE postage.

I will mark this as correct as it may help someone else.

Cheers.
