Login Issue  en

Hi there,

We have a huge problem with login feature. It worked fine for some time and recently for unknown reason it vanished on tablets, mobile phone and often with Safari.

The Login feature was inserted on top of the home page and not in the header.

When I check our website (jaxorchidsociety.org) from my desktop and laptop, everything looks fine. However members call and claim that they cannot register and login from Safari, mobile and tablet.

Everything looks fine in our project. In the responsive settings pic that is attached, you will see the login feature as #2

Thanks for any help

There are some issues with your menu. There is a small red Hamburger menu on top right that does not function. Your "Home" "About Us" and "Events" menu items are invisible until you pass a mouse over them. It's possible that there is something overlapping your login link on the home page, as I cannot see it using Firefox browser on my desktop.

Your site is also non-https, so some browsers will see it as insecure.

Hello,
when initially visiting the website, I encountered some issues with the loading of the menu, and the login was not displayed for me either, even in desktop viewì, but everything was displayed correctly after a refresh.
Could you please use CTRL + Preview to regenerate the project files and re-export the website, choosing to upload all files, and check if you still notice the issue on a mobile device?
I remain available.

Thanks for your replies. I deleted the red hamburger. Otherwise, The site is working under https.

I did a CTRL Preview + export all files and it did not change anything. However what I also did is the following:

I added a text object with Login on top of Home Page, immediately under the row that is reserved for the Login.

Created also a link to another page which has only the Login object.

When I test with mobile and tablet, this one appears to work.

Eric, there is also one suggestion for this Login object settings: General shows "Show Login, if not connected show Logout". I think this is potentially confusing and it should read instead "Show Login if not connected, and if connected show logout". here the location of the comma is important.

Hello,
apologies for the incorrect wording, I reported this to adjust the text to "Show Login, if connected show Logout" instead.

Ok, Thanks, but what do I do with the Login? I only tried to go around as a test, but actually I cannot reserve an entire page for one Login object.

It seems that other objects are overlapping with the Login object and hiding it, even though when I preview and look at responsive settings, everything looks fine to me.

Two features of interest  for Chat GPT were Java script, and the server cache. Any idea about it?

Yesterday, I spent almost the whole day trying to find the issue source, with Chat GPT. It's many pages of tests, and reports. As I cannot attach a PDF file, I will make excerpts and send them in Word format.

Hello,
apologies, I had misread the previous reply and missed that you ended up creating a separate page.
Could you please provide me with a copy of the project to take a closer look at what may be affecting the situation?
You can export it in Step 5 - Export, choosing the “Export the project” option to generate an IWZIP file, making sure not to use the options to include backup and preview files so that the size of the file is reduced.
You can then upload the file with SwissTransfer, TransferNow or similar services, and provide a download link to support @ incomedia.eu (without the spaces).
Thank you.

Here are a few of the many comments received from Chat GPT:

The key clues are:

Website X5 Pro 2026.1

Login works on Windows 11 desktop/laptop

Login fails on Safari, Android tablets and Android phones

The object is configured as responsive

Local preview/testing works even at 480 px

After uploading to the server, the login row becomes completely blank on the tablet

Removing the object above the login object does not solve it

That combination strongly suggests that the problem may not actually be the responsive row layout itself. It may instead involve the login object's generated HTML/JavaScript, CSS, browser compatibility, or something being affected by the server after publication.

I would investigate the problem in this order:

Possible cause                                                            My assessment

Login object missing from published website                           Unlikely

Responsive object #2 incorrectly hidden                                   Possible

Empty cells / row structure interfering with responsive            Quite possible
layout

CSS causing the object to become invisible on mobile            Quite possible

Login JavaScript failing on mobile                                            Very possible

Old/incomplete files remaining on server after publishing       Very possible

Safari itself being incompatible                                                  Unlikely

Android itself being incompatible                                             Unlikely

I see that you are using Let's Encrypt for your SSL. I looked more carefully when I loaded it up. Initially it appears to load with http but obviously you have a redirect that changes it to https.

The LOGIN now appears on your site viewed on my desktop using Firefox. It's also there on Edge.

On my iPad using Safari, the Login is visible. Same for Chrome on my iPad. I will check on a phone when I can and report back.

Eric,

Did you get the project I sent yesterday through Dropbox?

As Wayne said, now the Login looks normal, on top of the Home Page. But I still don't know why it had disappeared for a week. Was it a server cache problem?

Hello,
checking the hosting space, I noticed that there were multiple files for the homepage, and other obsolete files, these may have contributed to the issue.
I deleted some of these and re-exported, could you please clear the cache on your devices and check if you still encounter the issue?
I visited the website on a smartphone and the login fields were displayed as intended.
I am sending a download link for the IWZIP file.

Eric,

Yes on our side the website looks OK. It was tested by several people.

However I don't fully understand how we could have multiple or obsolete files for the homepage. It is a cache problem on the server, or could it be initiated from my uploads?

It is interesting to know because I would like to avoid recreating this issue which is very embarassing.

Many thanks for your help.

JP

Hello,
they were files associated with pages of the website, so the most likely scenario is that you had created these pages in the project at some point, and exported, and when you deleted these pages from your sitemap, you did not delete them from the hosting space.
Take care specifically not to have multiple homepage files (recognizable because their name is index), this can occur when there is a switch from index.html to index.php (for example because of an object added to the homepage that forces it to be in php).

That makes sense, even though at one step I had uploaded  All website to the server and it should have cleaned it all. Anyway, in your previous message you had advised sending a link for a IWZIP file. I assume this was for a clean project. As I have to do updates to the website, shall I wait for it (I received nothing) or can I start from my local ?

Thanks

JP

Hello,
I sent the e-mail yesterday afternoon to the Gmail address you also use for your account, could you please check both the inbox and the spam?

Eric.

OK I found it in the spam box.  Imported locally and that's an excellent base for going ahead.

Thank you for your update and great adjustments. Greatly appreciated.
