i had a computer crash, I don't have the iwp anymore. Is there a way to import my existing website from the uploaded files on the website? Or am I stuck starting over?

Note, i had no problem installing the program on the new computer, but all i'm left  with is the html etc etc on  the website

thank you in advance

Jen

Hey Jennifer

I'm sorry to tell you that if you haven't exported a backup .iwp, theres no other way than starting over with the project. My advice to you, if you have made a custom template, is to get a FTP program, e.g. Filezilla, and download your site (the HTML files and pictures and so on) then startover with the files on your computer.

Sincerely

Henrik

i found a iwp, but it was from last november, so i'm rebuilding.

The biggest problem is the websiteX5 program uses absolute paths in respect to file location. Is there a way to make it use relative paths?

like f:\\(my website)
instead of it putting the full path on an image, it uses ../images/imagename.jpg?

Or is there a file i can edit and do a global replace?

again, thank you for your help

Jenny

Hi

I have had the same problem; sucks! However I solved it by recreating the dictory that the site is linking for. For example: C:\Users\HH\Desktop\Project X

I don't know if theres a simple fix for this issue, but in version 9 the exported iwp contains all the files that have been used for the project, which means that you can place the file where you want.

Hope you get it to work somehow,

Henrik

When the project is sent to the server it uses "Relative" paths obviously.....

On the computer you insert the image no matter where it is so you will get a long path. Now you can use "Relative" paths in X5 if you are prepared to do the work?

e.g. files/image.jpg

You can add the images yourself in the back of a HTML Box/Expert this allows you to insert the relevant path in the image section....

We use this function when we are inserting animations on the header & footer graphic!! (HTML Code)
