this happens because the Adobe Reader plugin owns the screen area used to show the pdf file. In this way, the browser cannot display the dropdown menu. There's no way to elude this behavior, unfortunately. I can only suggest you to move the pdf widget in another area of your site where it doens't hide the drop down menu.
