Export/Batch Problem 
Autor: Nigel W.As some of you know, I have a private thread going on with Incomedia and all my issues ARE being addressed, although I await the finalization of the upgrade to see if it solves the many many issues brought up by you/me.
HOWEVER, ONE VERY VERY IMPORTANT problem I have decided to make public here and that is the "export/batch" process.
Did you all realize that this is now going to be a massive problem?
In Evolution8, we used to edit our site and then "export/batch" to the appropriate folder.
THIS MEANT that, once this process had been performed, our PC picture files that were linked to the project as thumbs in a slide show were now independent again.
IF YOU DIDN'T/DON'T "export/batch", then if you were to alter the PC structure of those files, their links would disappear from the project.
I am now told that it is not going to be so easy to do this in Evolution9!
In other words, Incomedia say that you have to MAKE SURE THAT YOU DON'T ALTER THE LOCATION OF ORIGINAL LINKED PHOTOS ON YOUR PC ONCE YOU'VE LINKED THEM!!!!!
How ridiculous is this?
I have hundreds of categorized pictures in specific folders on my PC and, EVERY DAY, people send me new ones for inclusion in the site.
In Evolution8, I add them to my site, "export/batch" and then move the new ones to the approprately categorized storage folders.
(It is going to be tedious to the extreme to move these new photos first, before adding to the site!!!)
What happens if the original folders get destroyed, for example?
Then, all the linked photos disappear from the project (without this "export/batch" process being able to be performed.)
In Evolution9, this process is not going to be that easy.
FIRSTLY, you are going to have to use the NEW "EXPORT" process, which creates a "ZIP" of the files and then you are going to have to manually reintroduce THAT "ZIP" file back to folder!!!
At the moment, the zipping doesn't work AT ALL for me. (In 43 minutes, the process was less than a third complete and my very fast, powerful PC was virtually frozen and THAT was after getting over a memory error message on the first attempt!)
OK...that last bit may well be cured in the new update BUT it doesn't alter the fact that in Evolution9 you are going to have to keep a whole load of files in their original places on your PC for the life time of your site!
(The white van is just on its way to take me to the nearest lunatic asylum as I am reduced to a gibbering, trembling nervous wreck!)
You are correct in what you say Nigel old chum.....
It is the same principal with V8 & V9. Your images are left where they are until you decide to move the project. I came to the same conclusion........ as where we have to do backups frequently, so if anything does go wrong we have a fresh copy at least.
Also with a website like yours exporting it out of V9 could cause the IWZIP to be in excess of 200MB, Jesus!!! Getting it back into V9 will most certainly cause problems for the linked files folder I reckon. Because, what about duplicate files, images in particular? If they are put in the same linked folder.....
1000 page websites will HAVE to be divided surely?
You are an experienced user and probably know the sites limitations by now anyway!
Tell me Nigel? Is this a Hobbyist program or a Professional piece of software?

Hi Nigel, please let me know if you are talking about the same issue on different posts.
We are discussing in another post and so nobody can read which is the real problem and all my answers.
I paste here my last answer:
You can solve your problem in the way I suggested. This way is much faster and permits you to avoid to export the files everytime.
You told me you have a folder named C:\Hampstead Heath Workshop.
Suppose that you have new photos to add in the project that are saved in D:\MyNewPhotos
This is what you do now (and you did using v8):
This is what you need to to:
That's all! Your document will be always updated and all the linked files will be placed into the main folder C:\Hampstead Heath Workshop\. Moreover this folder will contains all the linked files organised in a better way, using the name you want and a subfolder structure.
If you want a backup copy and you want to save time you could copy these folders:
If you link these folder to a backup unit you can do it automatically!
