Performed a new OS install but saved my website - where do i put it so the software sees it as a current project?

Hello Jon,
If you exported the projects as IWZIP file you can import them in the program by using the import function. If you saved the folder with all the projects then you need to move it back to he same folder but in this case you need to check that all images used are still in the same path otherwise they will not be visible.
Please let me know if it helps.

The website was saved to disc and in a folder which is entiteled "Websites X5 - Websites"- not sure what you mean when you say "you need to move it back to he same folder" because with a new OS install no folders exist other than default one?? What would be the name of the default folder it would have saved to before the new install? The domain name perhaps?
The images are not a problem as they all came from the same folder and i saved them all - so that folder is easily recreated.
When the images are not a problem, then set the folder where is the project file.
See under (1), start X5 > shortly left "settings"
... when you this mean

Done but still does not recognise the file - it sees the main file but does not show up in "Edit an existing project"??

Can i zip the project files i have and load them into X5 that way? If so, do i need winzip?

I have found another thread where someone had the same problem as me.
They had to recreate the whole webstie because when you save the website to disc it does not save the necessary files to re upload it. You have to save the website to you pc first which will contain the iwprj files including the "preview and upload" folders.
When you use the option save to disc these necessary files are not inluded and the saved webstie becomes usless.
This is a major software flaw - i now have to recreate the whole webstie but luckily i can copy and paste.
Incomedia i would like some compensation for my time please!
Hello Jon,
You have the option to export to disk the website to disk to upload the project manually but if you want to have a backup copy or save the project to move it to another compuer you need to choose "Export the project" and this option will create an IWZIP file that can be imported again in the program.
Many thanks!

Yes but where does it say that? I only had the website files saved on one pc and i had to do a full re-install of windows. I have never seen anywhere the explanation you give above!
One would think if you export to disc it would be uploadable but it isn't - and if you don't explain that how is it may fault?
Now i have to spend many hours recreating the website - will you be paying me for that time as you caused the fault? Unless you can show me a clear explanation for saving the necessary files...
Hello jon,
In the Manual or the Help menu you find the explanation about the different export options. the first is to use the ftp engine in WebSite X5, the second one to export the website as html files on the HD to upload them manually and the third to save the project as backup.
Many thanks!
