I am facing the update from Version 8 to version 9 problem....but now Version 10 is nearly here! Do I just wait, or will it be impossible to convert a version 8 site to a version 10 site?

Only version 9 can be converted to v10.
That's again a terrible mistake by the developers...When you make serious software it always has to be possible to update from an older verion to the newest.
Specially when updating from v8 to v9 isn't working very well (and that's a soft expression)
I also was waiting at for the next version to update my v8 websites, because v9 makes a disaster of them.
Now I work with two versions parallel. Old sites in v8 and new sites in v9.
So with the new version I have to use three parallel programs? funny.

If you have v8 Incomedia will help you to get it to v9 so you can import it in v10 (if you don't have v9). But imports have always been from 1 version below to current version. I can't help it aether and it doesn't make sense to me to make all older version compatible.
But i think you have a different problem i'm not aware off with v8 to v9.

I tried importing my Version 8 site into Version 9 and it was almost unrecognisable. All the picture paths were gone, the template was totally different and even my fonts were changed. It will take me weeks of work to make the Version 9 site look ok, so I have kept my Version 8 site up for now.
I was hoping that I could upgrade to Version 10 and maybe try to pull my Version 8 site into it. Seems not. Looks like I will have to get to work....
Hello Wayne,
The conversion of a project from Version 9 to Version 10 will have most parts automatically converted without the need to adapt them. The developers worked on making the transitions as easy as possible without the the needs to change it to make it work.

Thank you, Claudio. I knew that the change from 9 to 10 would probably go ok. I held off buying Version 9 for a long time, as my site looked ok in version 8 and I had heard all the problems that others had faced when converting from 8 to 9.
I didn't want to be left behind by the newer versions and bought 9 recently - but because the original template I used is no longer there in Version 9, my site was changed radically...for the worse. I have kept the version 8 site and am working away at the version 9 site slowly. It's very difficult to make it work though.
I may have to simply completely redesign my site if I get version 10.
Hello Wayne,
If the template you used in V8 is not present in V9 you can rebuild it by taking the graphic and add it in a custom template. You can get the images from the exported project and add them in V9 to rebuild the same template.
