MP3s won't play correctly in Evolution [upgrade from Compact]  en

I am using Website X5 Compact 9.  I have made a website that includes MP3s for hearing 30 seconds of some songs. It all works ok through the program, but when I upload it to the website and go to the site, none of the audio works. I have tried in IE9 and Firefox. The control bar is there, but does nothing when you press play.

Is there something I have overlooked? Thanks for your help.

Hello,

Some Flash functions are not fully supported with compact. Take a look at http://www.websitex5.com/en/compare.html

You could upgrade to Evolution or insert a HTML block and put some HTML5 code inside. Like this :

<audio controls>
<source src=" http://yourdomain.com/files/your_file.mp3 " type="audio/mpeg">
</audio>

Of course, remplacehttp://yourdomain.com/files/your_file.mp3with the link to your files.

Hope this can help Smile

Thanks for your suggestions.

I decided to upgrade to Evolution, thinking this would fix the problem.  But to my disappointment, I still have the same problem.  I have started the project from scratch again too.  Sometimes it will play the first split second over and over, but that's it.

So now that I've upgraded, I would really appreciate your help.  Again, it's the same whether I look at the site in IE9 or Firefox.

Thanks.

Hello,

I am sorry it hasn't fixed the problem. Please, could you post the link to your test site ?

Thanks

Thanks. I have the same issue and took a look at the file format. It is a 64 Kbps 44100 Hz mp3. I am currently converting it to 128 Kbps 44100 Hz for my test.  In fact, I wonder if the mp3 player accepts this.

Yes, it is. You will have to convert your mp3 to 128 Kbps / 44100 Hz / constant. I posted a test at  http://applicateur.fr/mp3

I put a "Download" link so you can test the file with your own project.

Hope this can help Smile

Thanks for your efforts.  I really appreciate it.  But I have the same problem.

If you check out the project now, I have converted the 2 files to 128 Kbps, and I have also included the file you created and let me download (the 3rd one).  However, none of them will play.  It's bizarre.  Your site worked fine.  But not mine.

Any other suggestions?

Hello,

We tested the files and the player and it seems to depend on the codec used for the mp3 files. We would suggest to try to convert them with a standard mp3 codec and then test it again.

Please let me know if this helps.

Hi Claudio.

I have been using Audacity to convert the files to MP3.  Is this ok?  I would have thought this was a standard mp3 codec.

I have downloaded and tried two other MP3 conversion programs, but when I upload the files to the website they won't work either.

Any more suggestions?

Thanks for your help.

Hi Claudio

I have discovered that the website plays the MP3s ok on my Samsung S2 phone.  (I thought this may help narrow down what's happening.)

Thanks.

Hello,

I tested the files on another server and they were working. Probably it depends also on the hosting server. Since you have with the Evolution Version also 12 monthd free hosting with domain, i would suggest you to use this service for your website. To get the offer go in your answers.websitex5.com profile in the "EDC Code section" where you will find the voucher ocde for the free 12 months hosting service.

Many thanks!

I don't know if I want to set up my own domain at this time, so I've found another way around it by using a photo and adding the mp3 file when you click on the photo.  It's not as good as the play bar, but it works.

Thanks again,

Spencer.

I have set up the free 12 month hosting with domain with www.one.com as you suggested, and everything now works fine.  Thanks for your help.

Regards,

Spencer.
