What happens when a linked file changes?  en

In a text-object I made a link to a local file. When this local file changes, the changes are not visable in the preview! Is this as designed? The workaround is to copy the changes to the 'files' directory in Incomedia/WebsiteX5.....

Hello Peter,

Did you remember to refresh the preview browser cache by holding the 'CTRL' key down whilst entering the preview?

The X5 preview browser is just the same as any other internet browser in that it makes use of a cache to store recently accessed contents.  The cache can be refreshed to update all links and objects by holding down the 'CTRL' key as above.

Kind regards,

Paul

Paul,

Thanks. This solves this problem for the Preview.

However when I export the changed files, it does not export the new linked data, so on the web I don't see the new version. An export of all files does solve this problem.

Kind regards,

Peter

Why are the changed linked files not exported when I do an export of the changed files?

I do this now  by hand using FileZilla. Is this as designed?

Hello Peter,

Just as in the preview, remember you have to press the 'CTRL' key whilst reloading the page in your main browser to refresh all web content.  Otherwise your browser may simply serve up a stored page from its cache.

New visitors to your site will of course see your updated content straightaway.

Kind regards,

Paul
