Hi, My SEO was asking can I drop the '/index.html' from the home page address - I looked on page properties and can delete the 'index' and then it states just '.html' - is there a way I can get it to dispaly the pure web address only and not the '.html or /index.html'

web site is www.performanceanalytics.co.uk
and this shows up when you click from any page back to the home page
Hello Alan,
This isn't done with WebSite X5... you can only do that sort of thing using an .htaccess file on your server, or you might have an option in your webhost control panel to achieve the same effect.
I'm genuinely surprised that your SEO consultant didn't know that?
Kind regards,
Paul

OK thanks
A newby stupid question. I'm new to website X5 but not to website building.
My site is hosted by godaddy. I had built my site with coffee cup's virtual site designer. For the last many years the pure site address url worked without the index.html. However now, under website X5 the url requires the index.html. If it was the server, why did it not require this before????
Ok stayed with it until I found the answer to my problem.
Since I was using coffee cup before, the program created default htm, html file and only one was replaced by X5 the other was still in my file list. Remobed that file and all seems to be working fine...Hope this helps others.
