I'm trying to enter info on my blog via the live site Blog page. After entering the check word I get an error message stating that, "The inserted check word is not correct."

to make captcha work properly you have to verify that the server on which you are publishing your web site supports the PHP language.
Therefore, contact your provider to verify that PHP is runnung on the server and is configured properly. Some providers, in fact, especially those offering free space, do not support the PHP code execution.
